Has anyone here driven the iX? Would you share your experience? I'm trying to get my husband to move over to an EV. He currently drives the plug-in X5 and loves it, so the iX is a no brainer, but I cannot get him to go for a test drive even though we have a reservation. I need something to help push him a bit. Gas prices are not working as well as I'd hoped.

Well, If he prefers what he is already driving why the push to get him to change? Happy hubby, life is bubbly!

I drove an iX for about 20 minutes on a variety of roads. I liked it a lot! It is not as fast as my DE, doesn't have the range but for an everyday vehicle its really good and fun to drive.

Not yet but I will be doing a test drive on the 20th (5/20/2022).

I am surprised that he is resisting. I drive the 530e and see that as a step toward a true BEV.

I drove the ix 50 last weekend. It felt amazing. It was my first EV so nothing to compare to. Plenty of power and technology is very good.

I am now debating between getting Lucid Touring vs the IX. Both have similar delivery window.

I've driven it twice. It's top-notch in every way (if you can live with the look of the grill). The interior is a grade above anything they've done before. (We have a loaded X5 now, and the iX is noticeably nicer. And I like it better than Lucid, which is quite nice). I UI is also ahead of anything I've ever seen, altho I wasn't in it long enough to let it get glitchy; the graphic are pretty stunning.

They claim 0--60 in something like 4.4 sec but it seemed faster--our X5 with 8 cyl is rated about the same but the iX seemed quicker.

It's been front and center at the dealership for 5 weeks which seems odd at a time when people wait a year for a Rivian and Tesla, and an Iconiq 5 sells in 1 day for 10k over sticker. My long-time sales guy says people are turned off by the grill, which is exactly why I haven't bought it.

Interesting- which dealer has it in stock. My PA dealer told me it won’t be available until mid next year if I order now.

This is good to know. I think once he drives it he'll love it. He is still slightly hesitant about going full EV and loves his X5.

I honestly don't mind the front grill - it's not pretty but it would not prevent me from buying a great car. It's not like you have to look at it while driving. There are a few for sale in our area but they are all white and with the cheaper interior.

The black exterior definitely makes the grill less prominent. I wonder if in person the leather is less washed out and fleshy than it appears in the dealers pics.
It's more palatable in person for sure---but still...attention-getting

If I were to order one I'd think hard about the blue interior. and a gray exterior...you can it them in the configurator

I had a short test drive in it and I loved the way it handled and the software is mature and terrific (I did have some trouble exiting as there is no handle...a button on the door). But, like you, ultimately I am having too much trouble with the imaginary grille. My home office is off my garage so I have to walk past the front of my car multiple times a day and see that grille. I had hoped a dark car would conceal it but I just can't get past it. And I am a multiple BMW historic owner and currently drive a 2018 530e.

Lucid is still my first choice but I have put down a deposit on a Lyriq as a backup. When push came to shove I just couldn't handle the front end of the IX.

Wonder if it’s the same as the red leather they used in the circa 2014 3 & 5 series. Tried to find a wagon in black or dark blue with red leather for months some years back and ended up giving up. I thought that leather was awesome (definitely different though)

We saw our first iX on the freeway today. My wife thought it looked a little melty or phantom-of-the-opera in the back like the i3 did.

I saw my first in the wild today as well. Parked facing me in the parking lot at the Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale. It was black. That helped a little but it was still pretty bad. My golf partner, who is a long time BMW guy, looked at it and agreed that it was ugly.

There has got to be a market for somebody to come up with a replacement front clip.

I don’t hate it. It felt good on my test drive and all the reviews are glowing.

I am putting a deposit on it Monday (was debating between the 50 vs 60) but have decided to go with 50.

This is still a backup to my Lucid. Whichever gets to me first.
