Are there any technical specifics about the different drive modes and what is REALLY different between them, especially for the Air Touring?

I vaguely remember seeing that the full 620hp is only available in sprint mode, and obviously the swift and sprint modes both stiffen the suspension to some degree and change the throttle response in some way.

But are there any other differences between modes?

For example, in my wife's car, Eco mode completely disengages the front motor most of the time.

Does the Air do anything like that?

Are there any changes beyond the throttle response that would result in different efficiency between smooth and swift?
 
Smooth limits to 480

Smooth also runs FWD on the highway and small accelerator inputs for better efficiency. Steering is tightened up in Swift and Sprint as far as weighting (you will only feel this if you push the car in corners but could find an empty parking lot to make some fast slalom turns:)). Swift locks it into rear biased AWD, also really can only feel if you set traction to partial and come out of corners harder.

Do you have information on this for Gravity and Gravity Dream Edition?
 
The manual just states what systems are having calibration changes relative to the mode but no specifics, a lot of it is personal experience, testing and other car enthusiast related reviews on youtube and other media. Regen in standard is also lessened in Swift and Sprint to behave like an ICE NA V8 engine...

It would be cool if they had even a single bit of powertrain telemetry for the driver to view while operating the vehicle. Lucid would assure you that every aspect of the HV pack, inverters, motors, cooling systems, charging process, etc. is constantly monitored for anomalies. I believe them, but none of this is visible until something goes wrong. So many sensors, yet my 2014 Ram 1500 could tell me more about what was going on at any given time; pages of real-time data at my fingertips.
 
I’ve always wondered this for my base RWD Pure. There is no doubt a different between lowest and highest setting. But I’d be curious to actually know the technical changes. I mostly drive in spirit unless the kids and wife are in the car.

My Polestar 2 added this after paying for the software performance upgrade. I think I used it twice: once after purchasing to confirm it installed OTA and the second time when I traded it in today for my Touring to show the dealership that I had a package that wouldn't show up when they ran the VIN.

Now that was a fun go-kart! Do any of these modes implement launch control?

If I had one wish fulfilled it'd be to tie the driving mode to our profiles. My Lightning does the same default to Normal mode every startup. At least Ford eventually implemented a "use last mode" option when you start the truck.

This makes sense. The one thing I most dislike about my car is that at 40 - 45 mph in Smooth mode the motor wind is loud and abrasive. I had heard before I bought the car that dual motor 2022 - 23 Airs were subject to loud front motors and that a motor mount change in 2024 fixed the problem. So lately I've been driving in Sprint and the motor whine is almost non-existent. If Sprint bias the drive dynamics to rear biased AWD that might explain why the motor whine is diminished.

On my 2025 Pure, if I’m stationary and toggle into Sprint mode a whine sound is engaged that goes away if I toggle back to smooth. Always been that way as long as I’ve had the car. You can’t really hear it too much inside with windows up but you can finitely hear it outside.

I suspect that is the sounds of preconditioning the battery, as it runs warmer in prep for large draws in sprint mode.

Yeah that’s exactly what it sounds like. It reminds me of my old model 3 when approaching a supercharger.

My GT does this but only while moving at speeds greater than 10 mph or so (in Swift/Sprint). Interesting that yours produces the noise while stationary.
