Is Lucid nerfing power output?

To me, the 0-60 time is important as an indicator whether it is something I want to test drive to really experience the acceleration under different tests. For me, anything mid r seconds is in the good enough category. Gravity in the 30-80 range, when pressed felt way faster to me than the r1s by leaps and bounds, it was on the order of redistributing the blood in my brain level and literally knocked my wife’s glasses off her head (they were raised up on her forehead at the time).
 
100mph is not that much.during my demo drive two weeks ago I was going 155mph :) lots of fun in German autobahn ☺️
In Calif a citation over 100mph usually isn't "speeding", it's "exhibition of speed", a misdemeanor, and the officer could arrest you for up to 90days in jail.
But even though the Speed Limit signs mostly say 65....80-85mph is quite the normal hwy speed on interstate hwys here.
So, it's easily quite possible in the Gravity to go over 100mph briefly while passing.
And... the less time you're next to a truck or over in the oncoming lane the safer your passing maneuver!

Here in the Bay Area, each time I test drove a GGT and still now in the loaner they gave me, Lucid has a governor on the vehicle motor to limit it to only 88mph.

I think it'd be quite dangerous to limit a demo drive car to only 88mph (not even 142kph) in Germany

When there is a speed limit and you do exessive speeding sure, it is also quite a hefty fine and possible jail time if endagering others.
We have so many road works so that we do not have so many "free" autobahn anymore :D

Yeah that would make no sense to limit to 88mph because then Germans would not buy the car at all ;) they wann expervince the full 250km/h if possible.

One of the Lucid guys this weekend said it's more a limitation of what the tires can do than what they could tune the motors to do.

(Walking around and sitting in the Sapphire was pretty cool, btw.)

I have pushed the tires towards higher performance, the braking performance went up but acceleration did not. Might be a limitation on the small and medium tire but not the large with summer tire.

The GT's software limit (168mph) is just under the limit the 21" Pirelli tires are rated for (300km/h or 186mph). The lower trims aren't limited by the tires. It may just be marketing, but rumor has it the motors and some other drive train components are actually not identical between the higher and lower trims (now), so they may be taking advantage of that early decision to optimize costs down without changing anything owner-facing.

Car and Driver testing puts max speed between 157 and 162mph between GT and Dream. The stuff I mentioned above was for 0-60mph acceleration.

So efficiency tires do limit acceleration to 60.

Grab a Dragy, test for your self. My best GT run was 3.2 to 60 with 1ft roll out.

Sorry, meant to say not limited by the 21" summer tires. Not disagreeing with you there.
 
I think the point is that you could create an even faster version of the Air/Gravity if we were all willing to pay what NASCAR does for tires.

Working on it…right now I upgraded large wheel 22/23” tire to F1 Assymetric 6 from Goodyear in 275/295 size and next step up is 275/315
 
In general, smaller rim diameter should help. Going to a 19" or 18" lightweight wheel with more sidewall flex should help acceleration/rotational intertia. The higher the diameter, usually the worse performance. Only problem is you need to clear the brakes..

Yeah, it is pretty easy to tell that the Gravity's acceleration limitation is not the tires. Car and Driver tested the 70-0 braking at 163 feet. That is about 1 g deceleration force - a good proxy for the straight-ahead traction limit of the tires. A 0-60 acceleration run in 3.2 seconds is around 0.86g. Well below the tire's grip limit.

Never seen anyone relate stopping ability to off the line traction, I can see how it be completely useless when comparing AWD vs RWD on exactly the same everything.

Engineers do. It is not exact, but it gives you insights into a theoretical boundary. Alternatively, you could look at lateral acceleration as another proxy. C&D tested the gravity at 0.90g lateral acceleration. Again, more traction than acceleration Gs. The car simply does not have the torque to do it any faster. Tires are not the limitation.

Ok, but this doesnt rule out software limiting torque output?
 
I wish we could get the Sapphire wheels/tires/suspension on the AGT. I don't really need tri-motor power, but would love stickier/wider tires and a tighter suspension for the twisties. I've gotten my AGT to slide more times than I care to admit on the stock summers.
