New Home Charger Limited to 12amps

After installing a new home charger, with 100 amp service, I was expecting to get the 80A advertised. But every time I connect, it kicks down to 12A.

My electrician came back and confirmed everything is connected properly. The Riviera Beach (FL) customer care people have no answers and said contact corporate customer care. The corporate customer service people say to try and adjust the amps by connecting my laptop to the chargers wifi signal, but I can accomplish that, let alone get to some screen where there is an adjustment back up to 80amp.

Has anyone figured out how to unleash the full power of the home charger: or connect to the chargers wifi; or found some app or lucid program that even controls the amperage being sent to the car? Im stuck with all day charging at 12amps
 
This is interesting to hear, I was considering swapping one of my Tesla chargers out for a Lucid model down the road when V2H is enabled
 
I do not have a answer (someone will) but for the sake of extending the life of the battery I always charge at the minimum rate that gets me back up to 80% overnight, which is often that low.

Yes, you should fix that but meanwhile that is a somewhat usable number.

If you are using the Connected Home Charging Station from Lucid, check to make sure the DIP switches in the charger are set to 80A. The PDF for setting up the charger can be found on the store page.

I hadn't considered this. My old Tesla charger and now my Lucid charger, were both rated at a maximum of 80 amps. Succeeding generations of Tesla home wall chargers were rated at 48 amps.

Anyway, I've always set the amperage at around 72 amps, and let the cars charge at that ball$-to-the-wall charging rate overnight. This typically means I can charge my Air GT from 23% to 80% in about four hours or so.

I've always cared desperately about battery degradation. Thankfully, I've lost only ten EPA rated miles in almost four years and 75,000 miles. Are you saying it would be a lot easier on the battery if I stepped down the amperage to say, 48 amps? I don't need my car to be charged up and ready to go at 80%, at 0400 hrs in the morning.
 
From my limited understanding, yes. The charge goes in as ions and during a fast charge there is something of a traffic jam at the internal cell terminals. A slower charge gives more time for the new ions to disperse into the battery medium. This density has the possibility of creating permanent changes to the local chemical structure, which ages the battery.

But seemingly you are doing well thanks to Lucid/Panasonic engineers, so YMMV.

(This is not my area of expertise, so anybody who wants to lecture me on battery chemistry can send those messages directly to /dev/null ) :)

This sounds like the issue. Mine is set for 48A and I have a friend who is using 80A. No issues.

AC charging at any rate possible (0-20kW) does not affect the life of the car's battery. It's only when you charge at the much higher rates possible with DC charging (150kW+) that battery life could be affected.

BTW Lucid's engineering team once mentioned that occasional DC fast charging may actually be beneficial to the battery.

If you need to charge the battery to 100%, time it so that you depart soon after hitting 100%. Not a week, or month, later. Especially in hot weather.

Either the charging station's DIP switch is set to the wrong value, or there is something wrong with the charger or car.
EDIT: or the car's charge current setting is incorrect. I'd forgotten that the Air now has this setting as does Gravity.

Yes, there was a reasearch paper maybe a year ago that found that better battery health occurs when there is occasional dc fast charging as well as occasional nearly fully discharging and charging the battery. I can not recall if this improved a battery performance or whether it was just statistically significant in terms of better battery health. Complete babying the battery was not ideal. Sorry, I can’t recall the deets better, surprising result.

As mentioned check the charger dipswitches. Also isn't there a limit setting on the car under the charging screen?

Sounds like a defective charging station.
Worth trying to charge a different EV there, and trying to charge your Lucid at another AC charging station, to cut the problem in half.
 
I recently swapped my old Tesla level 2 Gen 2 80A charger for a new Lucid connected home charger. I watched the install and followed along with the installation instructions. I have charge a few times and found that when I charge from 28% to 50% I get 18kW on my 100 AMP circuit. Then it drops to a slower rate as it approaches 80% and 70-80% is 11 kW.
I also used a temp gun to see if the breaker, charger, cable to connector and the connector got hot and found them all only warm 90-95 degrees when running near the end of the charge.
Factors to consider: Include the Gauge of the wire and the length of the run to the charger, The use of a Torque wrench for the screws on breaker as well as the charger and the use of a hydrolic compression tool for the ring terminals for a good connection for the circuit. Yes, the charger coupd be defective and yes the dip switches as well as your car can be set to accept a lower charge. Was the electrician familiar with installing 100 amp home EV chargers?
Hope t his helps you narrow down the issue. A less firm connection can create resistance, heat and a lower charging connection.
 
Had same issue on my 60A charger , after I register it and managed to connect there are isnide setting to adjust. Not sure if it is case , but worth to check
