HELP! Need advice. Do I buy a 26 Gravity GT?

Only thing I will say is given you’re coming from Rivian, be prepared for a slower rollout of software updates and features. When Rivian says something is coming in x timeframe they usually meet it, when Lucid says it, it’s often a pipe dream or they just don’t say anything at all.

Gravity drives great and is overall a great car! It has its quirks for sure but from charging performance, range, efficiency etc. nothing really competes. The software stability has definitely improved in the last few months.

I’ve had my GGT for a little over 4 months and have “mostly” loved it. Software has settled out and only significant hardware issue is non-functioning second row remote fold seats. The big issue (at least here in Houston) is service. Gravity has been in service for coming up on 3 weeks and it has not moved from its initial spot in the back of service lot. I guess this may be forcing me to realize how much I miss the Gravity as I have been driving a loaner Mercedes GLS 450. With the Gravity, every time I went out to drive, I was like “goodie, I get to drive my Gravity!!” With the Mercedes, which is similar priced vehicle, it is just transportation. It’s functional, hauls a lot in reasonable comfort, but no excitement. I would not waist money on the Tech package because there is no idea when Lucid will, if ever, deliver on the AR functionality. Good idea leasing as my only worry is about possible longevity of Lucid as a company long term.

We also passed on the tech pkg. Setting aside any doubts about delivery, we always wear polarized sunglasses with which we can't see the HUD anyway. Our 2014 Audi A6 TDI has a HUD and so does our Genesis GV70 EV but I couldn't tell you what they display. We did like the night vision on the Audi when we lived in the woods in Northern Idaho--really lights up a deer or moose at night. That's the only toy the Gravity is missing, but that's a discussion for another thread.

I sold my Gen 1 R1S Quad and leased a Gravity, and honestly I regret it most days.

The Gravity does a lot better on paper. The ride is smoother, the handling is sharper, the range is better, and the massaging seats are great. No question, it’s the more refined vehicle. But what I didn’t fully appreciate until after the switch is how much I value a car that simply works!

I had my Launch Edition R1S from late 2022 through spring 2025, and I never, literally never, had a key fob issue. Fast forward to owning the Gravity since August 2025, and it’s been the opposite experience. The key fob problems alone have been exhausting. Yes, there are workarounds, but that’s not really the point. Not to mention getting a Tesla for my wife in May 2025 that exacerbates the problem with Lucid software because that works, 100% of the time, every time.

People in forums like this tend to be more forgiving than the average buyer. But step outside this bubble and think about it objectively: a $120K 2026 Gravity that doesn’t have a reliably working key fob? Most consumers aren’t going to tolerate that. They don’t want fixes or band-aids, they just want their car to function properly.

At the end of the day, it comes down to how you actually use your car. Do you have a long commute? Do you road trip often? If you’re driving less than about 50 miles a day, you’re probably not even realizing most of the benefits the Gravity offers. That’s where people need to be honest with themselves.

Yes, the improvement in ride and handling is real. But it’s still just a car, and Lucid, in my experience, struggles with some of the basic functions that cars have been getting right for decades.

Even as someone who loves the brand and believe the product (when working) gives the competition a solid run for its money, it’s becoming hard to defend the constant missteps Lucid just continues to make.

I think a number of us give Lucid a lot of leeway and sometimes it feels like Lucid abuses that, but you’re right, any normal owner won’t put up with this.

If you loved your Rivian - i'd say go for it again and don't experiment with Gravity. I am not even sure they will iron out all the quirks in 2027 generation, not to mention 2026

We have 3 Lucids ('23 Air GT, '26 Gravity DE at our PNW home and a '26 Gravity GT at a condo we have in another city) and we have not had any real problems or inconveniences with any of them. So, our experience with, and opinion of these vehicles is really great, and we would recommend them to anyone who can afford them, without reservation - IF - it weren't for the service dilemma.

We love our local Seattle SC and the people who work there, and they've done great work and communicated really well when we needed something, but we're in a place now where new appointments are weeks, if not months out, and every current service backlog means weeks of your vehicle sitting in their parking lot before they even get the chance to look at it. They're great about providing rentals, but this is clearly a drag and seems unsustainable.

It wasn't a problem before the release of Gravity, but they are now really overstretched; they still have pretty much the same headcount/resource allocation they had when they opened, and there are so many more Lucids on the road.

Lucid really needs to show some love (and resources) to the service network or this is going to be a serious deterrent to potential new customers, as well as loyal current owners. I'm hoping that the new CEO will address this swiftly, as it seems like something he has experience with.

Hope Lucid fired the entire team responsible for the key fob. I mean, it’s just KEYS! Not autonomous driving.

But I heard latest software improved it a lot!

Yep, another cluster by Lucid CEO. Why decrease headcount now when you’re ramping up? Now service is an issue. It’s not enough that they had software issues. Hey, let me pour oil in the fire!

Sadly, it did not improve my key fobs. In fact they got a lot worse and the car is now in service with possible fob replacement as one of the service items. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Our Fobs worked much more reliably before the 3.5.1 update. But since the update, autolock fails 60-70% of the time. Auto Unlock fails outright or took more than 30sec to unlock. Frunk open button is almost completely nonfunctional. Trunk open button was 50:50 and I would just wait for doors to open and then manually open the trunk. ‘Key not detected’ alert would come on 10% of the time. Whereas it had literally never done that since I took delivery. Battery replacement had transient improvement in some functionality but would be just as bad the next day. Again…🤷🏽‍♂️

Seems like we always see people complain about how bad the key fob situation is. Must be some subset of the user base. Since the December update my key fob has worked every single time. It auto unlocks, auto locks, and has been using the same battery since then. Sorry to those who are having problems, but it's not a universal user experience.

That gives me hope that it will be resolved. Maybe with new fobs. Will report back on how their fix goes.

Honestly, aside from this one issue, this car has been perfect for us. Thank goodness for the app and remote start!

Because they’re not ramping up. They’re winding down.

@borski put $25 on the ASPCA for a 2027 Lucid bankruptcy

Anyways OP, if you want an 800 HP electric hot rod wagon that handles like a 911, smokes corvettes while it rubs your back, yes, get the Gravity. It will probably have problems, but if you’re close to service it’s up to you what you’re willing to deal with.

There is no other vehicle quite like it.

Long time lurker and new member here...
Ordered '27 Gravity this week based on my conclusions derived from the great conversations and information shared on these forums - plus a very convincing test drive!
It is somewhat of a leap of faith but as @socktucker says "There is no other vehicle quite like it".
Fingers crossed.

Same here, we haven't had any problems with the fob. Sorry for those (few?) who do, but ours is just fine.

Love it - would buy again. Even my wife loves it and we are 78 years old. Being on the cutting edge of tech is always my goal. I had the seventh Tesla in Mississippi and the first Air and now the first Gravity so there's that.

I’m in the love camp. My GDE does it all - beats many sports sedans while being a family road-tripping machine. We have three cars and we pick the Gravity every single time. In groups, everyone wants the Gravity. No fob issues.

I have nearly 6.5k miles on my Gravity approaching 4 months of ownership. Two road trips, one over 600 miles and one nearly 2k miles (round trip), where the range, charging speed, quiet, and comfort stand out.

I came to appreciate the safety aspect of the driving dynamics in heavy rain in the mountains. Traction control kicked in a few times but the Gravity was rock solid - felt like I was driving on dry pavement (Hankook 20/21 tires). Lucid knocked this out of the park.

The software bugs are still annoying and needs more love, but the UX is great. I like the Lucid UX better than the highly touted Tesla UX. Service center times are also long, so patience is required. If you can tolerate those annoyances, the Gravity is fantastic. If you are more of the glass is half-empty person and can’t get past the thorns on a beautiful rose, then look elsewhere.

💯 true. I can be very critical of Lucid based on my own Air experience, but I will maintain that it is insane the Gravity even exists. It reminded me of when Dodge came out with the Hellcat and everybody went what the hell are they thinking?!? And the Hellcat was an instant classic!
