How do you drive with sunshades installed?

Do you remember the vampire Spike and his '59 DeSoto Fireflite from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? He kept the windows of his car covered in tin foil with just a tiny slit so that he could drive in the daytime without the sun incinerating him . . . except for just a spot of charring now and then.

I am in Bradenton, not far from you -I am using only windshield shades. I'd say give it a try without them for a a few days/weeks and then decide, as they're pretty expensive
 
I got my Gravity in December in Maryland, so I haven't really seen hot weather. I have owned a Tesla S with an all-glass moonroof for the last 8 years, so I figured I'd be ok without the shades - but I bought them anyways. They're in the same box they shipped in in my garage - the box hasn't even been opened.

But last weekend, on not even that warm a day (maybe it got to 70?) I could feel the heat radiating off the overhead glass, and to my surprise, it was almost too hot to touch. With sunny and warmer weather on the way, I think I am going to pop those babies on this weekend.

Tesla did something magical with their Model S glass roof. I never needed a sunshade for my S in 7 years of owning it. I own a Y and 3 as well and immediately needed roof shades for both.
 
I bought the Lucid from their store and waiting for the delivery.

This weekend I used the one I bought in Costco for $15, it came with the windshield sunshade with two other for the side window. I used the two with the side window on the roof of Gravity and it did the job. It was sunny but the outside temp was 56 F. SDo not sure how Costco will perform in summer heat but for now it worked.
 
My Gravity went to service this week and they gave me a loaner Gravity - boy do I miss my shades now, definitely get them if your area heats up to 85+F on a regular basis

same, these are way too hot without a shade up there
