So the wife has a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, the lease ends in September. The residual is already higher than the current value by $5K so it won't be worth buying
She loves the car but there have been several issues popping up on quality for some of the cars- many US built 2025 & 26's have battery pack issues and also since the get go about 5-10% of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis EV's have a ICCU2 that will go bad and prevent the car from charging. So our confidence in leasing another one is not very high at all.
She likes the Mach-e (I refuse to call it a Mustang lol) and will test drive that soon. But she doesn't have much interest in other EV's and despises Tesla more than I do. She hates the headlamps on the R2, even though I like it.
She does however like my car but it might be a tad too big for her. I demonstrated that with the handling package that my turn radius is better than her smaller car and is willing to drive it more often.
Since the Cosmos is unlikely to come out by the lease termination date, we might stretch our budget and do a 2 year lease on a Gravity Touring with a handling package until the Cosmos comes out and proves to be a good car. The reduced range is fine- she only has 240 miles now and never has an issue with that. The reduced HP is also better suited for her as she far from being a speed demon.
Was just curious if anyone here has the Touring and what they think of it
Also- side question- if we get another Gravity will we be able to use my rewards referral even with me being on the lease since she is currently at home with no income (has MS)?
