Nothing about mechanical door handles prevents automatic door closing. I have to imagine it would be on a list of features any robotaxi service would request on a vehicle, so hopefully Lucid is smart enough to include them on a bespoke robotaxi model.

I would have been surprised if the Cosmos didn't have traditional passive handles. Aside from being another thing to break, active door handles are becoming universally recognized for the safety hazard that they are. The entire industry is phasing them out. As doubletwist said, there's no reason features like soft close or fully automated doors can't be implemented with a traditional passive door handle.

Those boxy shaped retro taxi in Japan doesn't have electric door lock but they can swing electronically to open and close controlled by driver.
