19 inch new tires

Hello , I am due for a tire change. Have had Almost 52000 miles on my lucid air touring.

I recently had a nail go in to my tires. And was getting it repaired at discount tire. They recommended changing tires and I agree it needs to be done soon. I still have 3/32 and 4/32 inch remaining on my tires. And live in AZ so not much rain or snow. Do you think I can survive a little longer with conservative driving ? I just wanted to survive this summer and get new tires before I move.

I was happy with my pirellis as they have lasted quite well. Half the time in winter weather and the other half in the snow. Had the car for almost three years. I am attaching the tires they recommended. I'm more concerned about long lasting and comfortable ride. Not so concerned on performance.

I have attached some of the tires they recommended. They mainly recommend the good year , and pirelli all season not performance.

I’m about to put new tires on my Tesla S and asked the exact same questions as you - lots of people talking very highly of the Hankook Ion Evo tires. I currently also have Pirellis and have been happy but wanted to try something else. Curious to see what you decide!

50k mileage warranty and better all around tire in all categories (dry, wet, snow, and wear).

I’m very happy with the Hankook. I liked them enough on my Gravity that I decided to try them on my Model X. The ride is significantly more quiet and comfortable coming from Continentals. I also abandoned Michelin a while ago - I got tired of new tires every 5k -10 k miles for the high performance tires.

The Hankooks have a triple A rating on the EU scale.

I'm surprised that nobody else has asked... Are you saying that you got 52,000 miles on your original tires? If so, wow! Also, if so, what has your practice been on tire pressure and alignments? Last, if so, I can't imagine that you come anywhere close to living up to your forum 'handle'.

I'm having trouble reconciling you saying that you live in AZ, and that you spend 'Half the time in winter weather and the other half in the snow.'.

I have a little over 20k on the same tires, and they seem to be in good shape, but I had no idea that I had a shot at over 50k miles. With that kind of performance, I would stick with the closest Pirelli successor tire.

I am using GoodYear Electricdrive 2 on my GT. Drive is smooth and like the OEM but i see a small hit on MPKw, but not 100% sure of its due to tires.

I have 35k on the OEM tires. They look good. Since tire wear seems to go from looking good to bald rather quickly, I'm unsure how long they will last. When the time comes I'd lean toward Pirelli as a replacement since the OEM had been so trouble free.

The Hankook’s claim to fame is EV range, noise, and comfort. I don't drive the Model X enough any more for a range comparison with the new tire - only on short trips or as a backup vehicle. I think I read it’s 1% - 3% better range. The improvement in quietness and comfort is significant, though.

Tread rating is 600 for the Hankooks, which I believe is the same as the Pirelli’s. The Pirelli’s are interesting, but I can’t find EU ratings for it (efficiency, wet traction, noise). Someone on the MachE forums posted that the noise rating was only a “C” for the Pirelli, but that was for a non-NCS version.

Hello yes. Currently at 51,8** miles to be precise.
I have had the car from 2023 April. I lived in the north East New Hampshire from 2023 April to 2024 June. July I drove to Arizona and been here since.
Usually try to keep up and make tire pressure is good. However there were couple of times I drove a bit with lower tire pressure.
Rotations and alignment. Just with the regular services. I misread the manual and only gotten two done so far. Basically did the 12k mile service check and 24k mile service check or what ever, but this was done only when car was about 45+k miles.

Most of the time it has been conservative driving. When in NH lot of driving NH to NY on the mountains. And high way otherwise.
I'm so conservative my lifetime average is about 3.99 efficiency. I'm trying my best to get it up to 4 before Arizona heat hits. Let's see how it goes. Like I said the thread is low. Ideally due for a change. But I'm hoping to get few more miles and push my luck till 2/32 thread. If you all think it's a bad idea. Ill probably change lol.

The oems are almost 400+
The other ones are 260-330 range. Was wondering if it's worth the difference

That’s a huge range difference! For me, it’s all about convenience. Extra range is always nice - you can never have enough, especially on road trips. Charge when convenient vs. being forced to stop and charge.

I would never get a non-EV tire after having the Hankook AS ION EVO SUV. Hankooks get top marks on tests as well as having many very positive reviews after purchase, putting these tires as one of the best in class.

I’m biased, though. I did my research into Hankooks before buying them for my model X. It truly is night and day compared to all my previous tires for everyday driving.

The Pirelli AS NCS Elect are interesting; maybe slightly better performance but slightly worse in range and noise? Data is hard to find. I’ll admit I don’t tear up corners like I used to. If I wanted to do that, I’d get performance tires and screw the range and noise!

I mean the price 400 plus $ for oem tires

Hahah nothing as of now. I'm going to run this for now n discount tires fixed the puncture. Since it still has a little threading left and I'm only driving local. Trying to see if I can get past this summer. With a few thousand miles.

I got the Pirelli AS NCS elect installed and driven 1000 miles. Went from 20 inch OEM to aftermarket 19 inch wheels, horrible tire. Very noisy, rough on rough roads. I guess that’s why they cost so less. I’m going to return them to Discount tire and maybe get the Hankooks. I’m never buying Pirelli tires again.

I've been more than a month out, not sure if discount will take the tires back but will keep you posted. For some reason the ride is rough on rough roads with lots of road noise, thump like sounds going over road imperfections. Its not even potholes, just the stripping they do on the roads and minor road fixes, also lots of road noise. I thought ride would be smoother compared to my 20 inches but nope.

Dis some more reserach. If you look at the pictures, the " newer " Pirelli AS NCS Elect thread is different from the OEM AS elect tires. Also, the OEM tires are 2 pounds heavier. Not exactly the same compound. And why are the newer ones that much cheaper? I suspect the tire quality is not as good as the original OEM tires.
