Came from MY and Model 3 to a 26 Air
Lucid are half baked cars lacking many common features they should have. They’re always on sale. The software is so bad it’s offensive. I was surprised at how bad and half assed many feature are, and many don’t work at all.
The service people are great but the repairs poor. The service department feels like the last leg of the factory since I bet almost all their cars leave with some sort of issue and they just sell them anyways.
I miss how Tesla just works. The software works. It has all basic features.
I don’t miss Teslas bad build quality, stupid parlor trucks, and “Grok” being forced on me. And their CEO.
I think Lucid is embarrassed by the mess they’ve made, I am shocked how many features don’t work right or at all. BUT I would still rather support a Lucid than Tesla.
I haven’t had charging issues with either. Lucid build quality is better than Tesla but still has issues. Some designs are just bad. I don’t think the frunk can ever be fixed. Autopark doesn’t work probably never will. Face recognition is a joke. Lucid Assistant is awful.
I don’t have DDpro but did have FSD and didn’t care for FSD.
The interior of a Lucid makes a Tesla look like a garbage can, it’s just so much better than Tesla it’s hard to explain. They really nailed it there. The doors are solid. The glass is thick and luxurious. It’s quiet as a funeral in there too. Impressive. The vehicle lighting on Lucid is awesome too it’s a real head turner.
The 100 yard view, Lucid is a significantly better car, but the day to day can be annoying depending on what you expect. Just when Tesla starts to shine out remember how water just blasts through the door in car washes and the wing fell off on a road trip so….
My user name should tell you I came from Tesla. I have owned or long-term driven the 3, y, s, x, and cybertruck. I have had a Tesla since before FSD.
The software on Tesla has been mostly bug free for maybe 3 years now. I used to reset the 3 using the scroll wheels atleast once a week. The automatic headlights would mostly blind people or turn off when they saw a light on in someones yard in pitch black nights; they still did this until last year when i sold them. The auto wipers would turn on at traffic lights and passing cars at night but rarely in the rain. My FSD did a full stop on the highway in the left lane after Elon said it was going to be offered for a month to all owners on version 12.x. The 12v battery would die after a year or two and you had to figure out how to open it manually. The panels were and still are misaligned. The air filter would grow mold and stink if you used the AC.
The cybertruck, on fsd 14.2.1, curbed the wheel while auto parking and then said to take control while at a Tesla charger. It also did phantom stops randomly, but much fewer on 14.x.
The model S brakes were so bad that they would scare me if i tried to actually go faster than 60 mph. There are literally car reviews where people were scared of the brakes not stopping the car in quartermile runs and then having to wait because they overheated.
The relatively good software is a recent thing for Tesla. Build quality and interior are on par with a Geo Metro. Lets be real.
Tesla software now is much better than Lucid. The driving experience is much worse. The interior quality is much worse. The service experience with Tesla is terrible; they won't let you talk to a service department at all and it's automated.
Lucid does have software/hardware issues, but the rest of the car is much better than any Tesla. The interior looks and feels like a car in that price segment. It drives and handles like a German luxury car. Its also much farther than Tesla was after the first 5 years. The roadster was the first Tesla in 2008. The model S was released in 2012. The model 3 was released 5 years after the model s. The y was not released until 2019. Your model 3 was released 9 years after the first Tesla and your model y was released 11 years after the first Tesla and that is of you bought it the year it came out which was pretty hard to do. If you leased your Teslas in 2023, it was 15 years after the company released is first car. Lucid released the Air in October/November 2021 making it about 4 years after first production. At this point in Tesla's production, it would be releasing the first model S. Most of the features you talk about only came out in 2019-2022. The company was mature and had a valuation of $600+ billion by 2020 compared to Lucid's current valuation of $3 billion.
Even with that huge advantage, Lucid has better chasis tuning, efficiency, range, interior, and fit and finish than a current Tesla. Devs are expensive and good ones go where they pay the most; big tech companies. Have you looked at other electric car software? It is a mess for the same reason. A company that can pay $400-500k to a dev will have Google/Amazon/Apple level devs and all the other electric cars have huge software issues. So, yes Tesla has much better software after 18 years of development than companies that have 4 years of development. But it still can't even compete with a Honda Civic on build quality or interior quality.
