Gravity Bugs / Issues

Must’ve missed the fact 3.3.22 came out. I have been on 3.3.20 since it came out.

Yeah, there are conflicting reports about what's going on. Some people have been told it's being sent to only certain cars; some have been told it's still an ongoing rollout; and some think it's been paused because of issues with the update.

As 3.3.20 has done so little to fix the software bugs in our first Gravity, I don't really expect much from 3.3.22 even if it does eventually arrive.

Sadly, it’s as if you’re first Gravity needs to be “wiped” but given all the other components, that can’t really be done. Lucid should literally build you new one and take yours to learn/investigate. Sorry it’s still causing issues. Unfortunately, just seems like it will never work as intended.

It was a limited release, didn’t apply to all vehicles.

This morning my Gravity started up as I got in and a few seconds later the top screen kept blinking and chiming for at least a minute or two. Most concerning was tha It would not let me do the reboot procedure after several tries. It eventually went black while the bottom screen remained on. I decided to get out of the vehicle and see if I could get it to sleep and retry. I must not have walked away long enough as the black screen was still on when I got back in but I did try another reboot and even though there was no message to release the buttons and brake I did hear a chime and it did reboot and all was right with the world again

Hopefully this video uploads

The mobile tech is here right now replacing the steering wheel on our first Gravity and the driver door latch on our Air.

When I had the Gravity out on an errand this morning I found that the Lucid Assistant would not execute certain commands for the audio system, such as changing a song selection or switching a source. The Assistant was responding to my voice and displaying the text of what I was saying, but it would not execute the command. It was, however, executing commands to do other things, such as give a weather report. It would also raise and lower the volume of the audio system but just not change the content.

The mobile tech also tried and got the same issue. The mobile tech wanted me to see if the Air had the same problem, but we were unable to check because when both Lucids are powered up, neither will play audio -- another issue that has not been resolved despite months of complaining.

I have the same Lucid Assistant issue with my Gravity.

I had my second instance of Dream Drive refusing to engage this morning. Kept hitting button and nothing. Then a few minutes later I got “sensors blocked” and a couple other error messages. When I got to my stop shortly later, I checked the sensor area at top of windshield, opposite rear view mirror, and saw slight condensation as some others have reported. Car had been parked in warm garage and then pulled out into cool 45 degree morning, so prime condensation conditions. After hour parked in sunny parking lot, got back in and Dream Drive was all good (although I had Dream Drive error messages when I first got in but went away after a couple minutes.) So, this definitely appears to be a hardware issue and not software. Has anyone with this issue tried using defroster to speed clearing this up?

Also on Dream Drive, I still occasionally (maybe 20% of the time) have the DD button not respond to a single tap and require a quick “double tap” to engage. Not sure if this is software related or an issue with the button/steering wheel.

I’m leaning towards the software explanation. I’ve set my button to double-tap because I wanted some speed control at low speeds, where the car can’t activate Drive Assist. This leads me to believe it’s software because when I click once and the car starts maintaining the speed, I can click again when the steering wheel appears to put the car into Drive Assist. However, sometimes I have to click more than once. If I click when there’s no steering wheel, I get a message that Drive Assist is Not Available. This happens every time I click without any missed responses. When the steering wheel finally appears, I can click, but I may have to press multiple times. This suggests that clicks are being registered, but the Drive Assist part isn’t receiving them.

On a dinner outing with friends tonight we were hit by yet another swarm of software bugs in our older Gravity.

The navigation satellite map was showing us driving through woods and over fields several hundred yards off the road we were on. The map was also randomly spinning and rotating and pixelating in and out. (This is the second time it's done this in the past few days.)

The Tidal menu froze, and we could not back out of the screen.

Even though we were driving at night, the first foot of the dashboard "vibes" accent light on the passenger side beyond the front door edge stayed on. I thought the car would reset while we were at dinner, but it did not.

On the way back home, we went into the "vibes" menu to turn the light intensity down and to reset it from the bright white color we do not like -- something we always have to do because it will not retain the settings we prefer. The strip of dashboard lighting that was malfunctioning earlier continued to malfunction. When we reset the lighting to the organist hue we prefer at night, the color switched on all the accent lighting to the new color, except for that errant strip which remained bright white. It also remained at the highest intensity although the rest of the light strips responded to the command to lower brightness. And after a couple of miles, the middle portion of that errant strip of lighting blacked out while both ends of the strip remained lit.

The car is on 3.3.20. (3.3.22 has not yet been pushed to it, even though our other Gravity received it over three weeks ago.)

While our newer Gravity is behaving better, this first one remains a chronic annoyance with every outing still a total crapshoot in terms of what will and will not work in it.

agreed. I would probably go for a full factory reset, only setup and use a single profile and see how that goes. unless that's been tried already?

ideally what needs to happen is the system cache, app caches, user cache and settings need to be all wiped. I would think (hope?) Lucid has a way to do that past the vehicle leaving the factory.

Maybe try this:

Maybe try this:
Yeah, I’ll hand this to my wife while we drive down road at 70mph and tell her to hang out of the window and point this at the trouble spot.

But I got to thinking more. I am avid photographer and have had this happen quite often when I pull my camera out of a warm car into a cold morning out of car and my lens is heavily fogged. This fogging is on the exterior of the lens. So makes me wonder if the condensation we see on sensors is on exterior or interior. If on exterior, a simple wiper sweep will fix. I will try that next time this happens.

I have a new issue where often times after driving the “home” screen becomes unresponsive (the one which is accessed by tapping the vehicle icon). You cannot adjust any settings such as ride height, steering wheel, mirrors, lock / trunk, etc. It’s only this display / “page” that freezes.
I had this happen once recently. Switched to another screen (either HVAC or NAV, I forget which) and back to home and it was OK.

For the third evening this is what our Gravity cabin looks like at night: part of a dashboard strip that won't turn off when the car is in "drive", mismatched colors, a center section of the errant strip that blacks in and out and stays at maximum brightness no matter how low the intensity is turned down.

The car has been through multiple sleep cycles since this issue returned three nights ago, the software has been rebooted manually, turning the whole "Vibes" feature off -- which still leaves the errant strip lit up all by its lonesome. It's annoying as hell to sit in this car at night.

I notified [email protected] two days ago with no response back from either them or the Service Center. Back on December 16 I was at the Service Center when they got someone from Lucid HQ on the phone and asked to set up a case to bring the car in to get to the bottom of the numerous continuing software and hardware issues with this car . . . and I've heard zip back. Our mobile tech has also observed and photographed some of the problems and submitted work requests, also with no response back from Lucid.

I am beginning to lose patience with Lucid. Yeah, their service network is swamped, but they brought this on themselves by putting these cars on the road before they were ready. In over six months of owning this particular Gravity, I honestly cannot remember a single outing in it without at least one feature malfunctioning. For the first few months, I assumed Lucid would get most of this addressed through a combination of software updates and investigation of the unusual level of problems with this particular car. I have now lost faith that this will happen unless I figure out some kind of warpath to get on.

The only thing keeping me from starting lemon law proceedings about this car at this point is the almost $20K I have put into it for PPF and radar/laser installation. I'd rather get it fixed, but I'm not going to drive it for the next several years with it behaving like this.

By the way, even if I turn "Vibes" off altogether, that errant strip on the right side of the dashboard stays lit at full intensity with the middle part going on and off.

When we get our newest Gravity back from the PPF and the radar installers, we're just going to sideline this POS until Lucid decides to get serious about finding out what's going on with its software and hardware.

I had much the same experience except I had to go somewhere. Drove with it blinking, turned black part way and when I arrived and put it in park it came back to normal.
