Yeah. I bought in on the whole future-proof DDP hardware and Lidar with the Air for this exact stuff. If they don't deliver that, I will not be happy
They already forgot what is Air 🤣

This is an indirect claim of Air owners who purchased on future promise of DDP hardware capabilities are being burnt. (Yes, yes, yes, don’t buy in the future, but most buyers thought this wasn’t another Tesla ☹️)

Air is not getting L2++. Was pretty clear in Lucid's press release last year. I'd say the DD Pro you have today in the Air is not going to change that drastically. Early into the Air's production, Lucid scaled back its promises on what DD Pro could do on the Air.

So a 10k hardware for line centering and adaptive speed on highways ( i mean early buyers). Lucid should not ditch us on this when other brands with less hardware are delivering city driving with line centering and traffic aware and stuff like that.

I am with you on this one. Why did we pay 10K 3 years ago???

Remember, they quickly dropped the price of DD Pro to $7K and then continually dropped it. I could be wrong but it’s not looking promising. They pulled a Tesla

Yes, but if they dont want to make it any better they are not supposed to charge for this. Even now if i go for a 2026 they are still charging $6750 for this. This will be a full on betrayal if they are not going to deliver on stuff what they pretended to be on when they released this vehicle boasting all what this can do.

Like I said, maybe I'm wrong but to me, it's telling when Air isn't getting mentioned in any of this stuff. I hope I'm wrong but I feel once Lucid delivered hands-free for the Air they checked the box complete and moved on. Its not to say things like automatic lane change and other smaller enhancements won't come but I wouldn't get your hopes up on L2++

Yes, in all there recent talks they omitted Air in the picture and i am not sure why they are still selling DDP and not DDP2 in Air. I wish they take car of Air and not be like others. Don't sell obsolete hardware when there is no plans to advance it.

This really sucks for Air owners, but it's the nature of the beast:
1) Everyone (not just Musk) thought driving autonomy wasn't that hard. Tony Seba said we'd have it by 2020. Mobileye's CEO was promising it by 2021. In 2017, Uber promised to buy 20,000 Volvos to convert to driverless. Etc.
2) As developers realized the problem was harder, hardware had to scale.
3) As developers realize (pretty much just happening recently) that AI is the solution, not hundreds of thousands of lines of C++ code, hardware had to be different.
4) And now we're seeing a shift from thinking LiDAR is necessary to (for L2++ systems at least) not requiring LiDAR or even HD Maps (as claimed by Nvidia).

Tesla even (prematurely) had a program where they'd upgrade the compute hardware in older cars to the latest to get FSD, but that was like HW2 to HW3 (or maybe 2.5), and today they're on HW4 (really HW4.5 since they added a front bumper camera without upping the version number). That ended up costing Tesla money with FSD realization still well over half a decade away (and still not achieved today).

I suspect the promise from Lucid was made with good intentions, but I don't see how the company, especially in its current financial state, can afford to retrofit cars with DDP/DDP2 to the latest. At any rate, we'll see if even the Gravity DDP promise comes to fruition. The Mercedes demo vehicles give us some hope, but the birds are still in the bush.

Air doesn't have the compute to do much more than it does now. They were too ambitious and likely unaware of this when it was first released.

Gravity is getting some of these updates because it uses Nvidia's Orin, and level 4 is reserved for their midsize, which will have Nvidia's Thor.

If they realized it already they should not be doing the same on Air 2026 too. Dont sell something you think is obsolete. If you are still selling DDP as how it is in 2022 models, they should deliver something meaningful how others are doing.

Agreed, the other thing to keep in mind is that Nvidia is by no means perfect either. They've been saying Nvidia Drive has been able to do autonomous driving for years and at every CES tend to show it off in a Mercedes but yet, here in 2026 it's still branded as coming soon. Lucid could've just bought into the hype that Nvidia sold them on and then they all realized it just couldn't be achieved on the DD Pro 1 hardware.

It's why I keep saying, automakers should be legally held accountable when they're taking money for future promises. If they can't deliver on those promises then they should be forced to refund.

To be fair, customers still want some level of autonomy and they're delivering on all the autonomous features they list. Their language on future updates is vague and I'd expect current capabilities to be refined rather than them adding new ones, like urban driving.

What are you basing your assertion on the capacity of the Air's computer on?

It's an assumption, but we know it has less compute than the Gravity, which uses Orin. No cars using Nvidia's hardware are capable of, or are suggesting they will be capable of, urban driving unless they have Orin or better.
