Pre-owned purchase. Can I back out after seeing/driving the car?

I'm thinking of buying a pre-owned Air. I've seen photos of them online and read the "acceptable standard of quality" or whatever fine print. I'm juat asking if anyone knows if one can enter into the deal and then get out at pickup? If so at what cost?

At a minimum you would lose your deposit which is non-refundable after 3 days. They might also charge you for shipping so those costs are typically non-refundable. Beyond that it’s hard to say.

The lack of detailed condition information and images is what kept me from purchasing a pre-owned vehicle directly from Lucid. They also charge above market prices on their pre-owned vehicles and when they added their CPO certification they raised those already high prices by another $7K. So you’re paying for a vehicle sight unseen that’s at a minimum $7-12K above market. You are getting an additional 12 month warranty but I’m not sure it’s worth the premium particularly since the original factory warranty is fully transferable. My advice would be to buy from a third party where you can actually see the car in person or get detailed condition info and pics. You’ll likely save quite a bit and still have the peace of mind with the factory warranty.

It seems as if Lucid is buying up all the used and lease return cars so there are very few third party cars available. There were 69 Lucid Airs Pure cars on the Lucid Motors Pre-Owned page (just the Air Pure trim) and only a handful of used Lucid Airs of any stripe here in the Los Angeles area, and pretty much the same price as on the Lucid website. Apple does this same thing with used iPhones, to keep the prices up. Wonder how long Lucid can afford to keep up this practice.

I guess I’m throwing caution to the wind but I ordered one from Lucid. I will be bringing with me the Inspection Checklist that I found here on this forum.

CarGurus is showing 293 used Air’s being sold by third-parties nationwide. I’m not sure what the breakdown is among trims. I wouldn’t have any hesitancy buying from Lucid, but I did find the pricing and lack of details a bit frustrating when I bought my used Air last year. You are getting an extended warranty which is nice. But it’s reflected in their pricing.

Depending on how far you are from the site where the car is, take a short vacation that includes seeing the car. I’ve bought a number of cars from out of town, but try to take a trip to see it first. Had some nice little vacations doing that….

I bought a used Air Touring from Lucid last June and they handled it beautifully from start to finish. Assigned me a sales rep who kept me informed thru the process. Shipped by car from California to the local studio here in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Treated me like a "new car" owner - including the uncovering "reveal" and spending considerable time going over features and setting up the fobs, etc. I've had no major issues and I love my Lucid. I highly recommend purchasing thru the company.

Generally, I think one gets what they pay for. I’d buy a refurbished product from Apple in a heartbeat, for a higher price, than one from somebody down the street or from a random store.

Lucid will stand behind their product, albeit all the various posts on this forum aside, but an individual seller or a used car dealer might not have the same level of interest in product support.

Best part of America - you get to make your own choice! Pay more and have the backing of Lucid or pay less and manage the risk/reward yourself. You are the final decision maker and the one who benefits from the decision.
