I looked high and low for a hitch mount ski attachment for the Gravity. My priorities were:

- hitch mount
- easily pivot to enable rear hatch to open
- lightweight
- easy to install
- hold 4+ sets of ski's or snowboards, or (2x) golf clubs

Rationale - I don't want roof top bars on the Gravity all the time as while they are efficient, there is still some range loss. I also didn't want roof mount as I didn't want to opportunity to scratch the roof glass. But really my priority was a more efficient system off of the hitch.

I found Chuck Rack and I have been very happy with it. I do not receive a commission and I do not work for Chuck Rack. You'll see my review on the website (look for the picture of the white Gravity). https://chuckrack.com/pages/chuck-bucket-ski-rack

Hope this helps those of you looking for hitch mount accessories.

In our case we just have a need to bring lots of skis... so we'll be doing both roof mount and hitch mount. Previously our record is 16 pairs of skis on the roof of a Cybertruck.
I need to wait for the Gravity roof bars to come back in stock (they have returned to the website at least) but bought a chuck bucket a few weeks ago (haven't tried it yet).

Most hitch mounts leave the skis exposed which gets a lot of grit / grime on them and may dull the edges, I think the chuck bucket will be much better that way... it covers the bottom, and you can keep the skis in a ski bag if you like.
Hitch accessories make supercharging more difficult (we found that historically on our Xs) but with the Gravity we don't need to supercharge going skiing :)

I assume you have tried it already? Have you tried 5 sets of skis? What is the weight like compared to the Gravity rated limits for a hitch mounted accessory?

The weight is very manageable. With three sets of skis and poles, I can detach the entire bucket with ski's in and lift it down and place it in the garage. They also sell a cover for ski's that isn't a full bag that I have purchased but not used yet. 6 pairs of ski's will fit no problem.

How many passengers are you bringing along? Unless you have 4 or more passengers, why not just store the skis inside in the center pass-through? A simple tie-down will secure things from shifting (or becoming missiles in an accident).

The weight concern I have is not so much with me carrying it but in breaking the Gravity.
I'm not sure if there is an update on the limits, but I've seen an accessory limit for the Gravity of 110lb (due to the turning moment it is much less than the tongue weight limit).
The chuck bucket plus rack I believe is 45lb? That leaves 65lb available for gear.
Our skis and bindings are pretty heavy... averaging close to 15lb per pair, means a max of 4 pairs before we hit the accessory limit.
Now I could of course remove the bindings from the skis to make them lighter (and give more space) but that takes extra effort.

Daytrips for 3 people we've done fine that way... ski boots, helmets, clothing, extra clothing, extra goggle lenses, ski poles, some food, and of course the 110v boot warmer to warm up the boots on the way up the hill.

The issue is when we are doing weeklong trips to Vail. Powered cooler for food and medicine, also a box for non-refrigerated medicine, clothing for a week, ski gear for 4 people, WFH equipment, ski tuning equipment, and hopefully around 14 pairs of skis total. hoping for 8 pairs of skis on the roof, 6 on the hitch, with all the gear (including ski poles) on the inside. This was us going up for a week last year, the bed was full.

Got it, yeah, that would be tight.

There are some beautiful skis in there…. Big fan of the Stockli SLs in particular. It would be a shame to get road grime on any of them!
