Maybe I'm missing something, but my GGT is making me touch my steering wheel occasionally when engaged. I was told the Pro was true hands free and only the DD and DD Premium made you touch the wheel. What am I missing?

They unfortunately haven't released hands free yet. They had originally said they'd release it by the end of this year, but Q1 seems more likely at this point.

Like a lot of the features on the Gravity, Hands Free is a “Planned for the future” feature. Could be a month from now… or could be a year from now, who knows.

Thanks for the clarity.

They probably have 100 bugs and other small features (CarPlay was also supposed to be by year end) before they can add net new features. Realistically, I would expect second half of 2026.

Remember, the CEO’s last email said the next update would be for the fob and more bug fixes.

Patience. They’re all over stuff, but there’s a bunch of to address.

It is certainly not close to Teslas autopilot. And I talking 3 years ago. I have. 2025 Air with dream Drive Pro. if you enable handsfree, every time you look at the bottom screen you get annoying beeps. That, and the ever present “keep your hands on the wheel”, when they already are. It is next to worthless. I disabled it.

I'm not able to get the Dreamdrive Pro to change lanes. I was told at my delivery that turning on the turn signal would cause the vehicle to change lanes.
Is that working for anyone or is that yet to be delivered?

I had an Air loaner with hands free and I have an X with FSD. Honestly, what are you supposed to do with your hands if they’re not on the wheel? Neither system lets you look away and DO anything else, and there aren’t huge arm rests to relax and you can’t just recline. So, I find myself putting my hands on the wheel anyway. Otherwise, both cars give nasty warnings very quickly if you dare look away. So, to me, hands free is pointless until it gets to the point where it need not be supervised.

I just got my GDE two days ago and did a 150 mile mini road trip. Dream Drive Pro worked well. Following distance was consistent, smooth acceleration/deceleration in stop and go heavy traffic, no hunting during curves, honors max speed, and lane changes via turn signal. I actually prefer DDP for the smoothness over Tesla FSD, and it’s better than Tesla autopilot.

Granted, Tesla FSD is way ahead for point to point navigation (for now), but DDP works well for road trips.

There were instances where turn signal lane change was slow without traffic (a few seconds to decide it was clear) and a few times where I had to manually switch lanes. However, I love that DDP doesn’t fight you and disengage when you make manual corrections like Tesla autopilot and early FSD.

I also kept my hands in the wheel, but I’m used to that and like to feel the auto-drive steering inputs. The captive touch is a step up from having to jiggle the steering wheel. I wouldn’t want to take my hands off the wheel until we get true Level 3 self-driving.

It’s noticeably worse than FSD on curves. My DD2Pro never slows down for curves on the highway. It’s border line dangerous when they suggest 45mph on a curve while on a 70mph highway…gotta get smarter. Tesla FSD used to act this way early on.

Otherwise, I agree. It’s fantastic and does exactly what I need. Auto lane changing is the one thing I’d love at some point. But I want CarPlay first.

Works fine for me as long as it doesn’t think you are trying to turn. Make sure you only push the stalk part way down to signal the lane change.

Thanks @MarkVT - I'll give it a try again. I was definitely not going part way down, so hopefully that's it. Appreciate the response.

One other thing. Make sure that you are in Drive Assist before trying to engage Lane Change Assist. It will not engage if you are driving along with no Dream Drive engaged.

Got it - thx. I'm reviewing the manual and the section "Activating LCA", where it reads:
"Either tap or tap and briefly hold the turn indicator (depending on your chosen option in DreamDrive settings) to activate LCA during Drive Assist."

Thanks again!

Apparently one makes YouTube videos of how great it is that your hands can now be on your lap, ready to grab the wheel when your system senses a Dixie Cup blowing across the road (squirrel 🐿️!) and slams on the brakes.

Ah, yes, forgot to mention that; I love that about the Tesla. Slowing down for curves is the one area that is deficient for Lucid auto drive and would be my #1 priority (besides software bug fixes). This is for both adaptive cruise control as well as DDP.

That works for me. Once you are in Drive Assist, you simply have to turn on a signal and hold it there for a second or so, and you should see 'initiating lane change'

My experience the past few days, although I can't find documentation to this effect, is that LCA is geofenced to highways.

When Drive Assist is on and LCA is available, it will immediately say "Lane Change Requested" after activation and the turn signal will stay on until the operation completes. If LCA is not available there is no message and you get 3 turn signal flashes.

The Air slows down for curves, for sure. The Gravity also suggests lane changes (though does not make them without your initiation).

Are you sure the Gravity doesn't slow down for curves? I'll admit I haven't paid *that* much attention, but it's possible this is in the Air and not yet in Gravity.

It does for some and not for others. You know it’s doing it when it says a message on the cockpit like “slowing for curve”. It’s rare it actually does it though and just tries to take a majority of curves at full speed. The Air is better at handling curves than the Gravity at this stage.
