Gravity HVAC - Poor software design or just buggy?

Have had my GGT for 3 weeks now. Installed 3.3.20 last week and it has improved a number of issues but with the exception of stopping the hurricane blast, my HVAC continues to be sub optimal. The reason I am posting this seperate from other posts is that unlike most all of the other software bugs that are sporadic, show up infrequently and then disappear for a few days before maybe appearing again, the HVAC issues in the Gravity, at least for me, are an every day, almost every time I drive issue. This is such an issue for me that my typical process upon entering car is to first thing, bring up the HVAC screen.

My issues are:
1. HVAC will not remain in auto mode from one driving session to another. Typically it will show passenger side in Auto but drive side off. If I change driver side to auto, upon next drive session, driver side has returned to off.
2. When system is set to auto and system is heating, it defaults to dash vent. Every car I have driven use bottom, under dash vents for heat. I have found that if I bump temp way up to say 78, the system will switch to bottom vents. This is particularly annoying at startup since system has not had time to warm air temp up much, so dash vents are blowing coolish air at your chest until system has had time to heat up or I take the time to manually switch vents to floor setting.
3. Defrost will not come on unless I select it manually or bump temp way up in auto like in 2 above. Once when I was driving in rain, noticed fogging windows, check HVAC page and noticed defog icons were flashing on and off. Took me a couple taps to switch them to being on.
4. Once I set things to desired levels, everything works fine (so HVAC is sound mechanically.) It is just that AUTO does not work.

I am just trying to determine if many or most of other Gravity owners are having similar issues (then I will try to be patient and hope for a fix soon.) If most are not having these issues, then I will contact Lucid to ask for repairs.
 
We are having most of these problems as well. Very annoying. #1 happens to us exactly as you describe. This can't be an intentional design, right? And it takes multiple taps of the auto button on the driver's side to get it to go on. Too much time with your eyes off the road to get auto on. I have also seen the flashing defrost icon buttons. Overall it needs more fine-tuning, even if the hurricane is (maybe) gone.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that this is a software programming issue. I would call it bigger than just a glitch like some of the other issues that pop up since this happens every time you drive. I guess until this is fixed we will have to be living in the 90’s, which was the last time I had a car without auto AC.

Yes - agree that the HVAC in general is not great between the hurricane on entry (allegedly fixed with 3.3.20, TBD as I haven't driven yet) but also the auto logic is not very good and is an issue on every drive.

I have to turn off/on the system, re-click sync and/or auto numerous times. Primarily the fan speed starts getting high and loud periodically but also the temp seems weird? Even if it's 40 degrees outside the 72 degree temp air coming out of the front facing fans when on auto feels cool, not warm. So then I go up to 76 to get the air to actually feel warm.

I've also had the getting foggy while driving and then turn on and off the defrost. The defrost mode is so loud that I immediately turn it off when it's cleared again.



As far as HVAC I'd rate the experience as 'needs considerable improvement'. Nothing 'auto' about it.
 
I haven't tried that, but setting everything to manual for a while might work, I have noticed after being in the car for 1hr straight it starts exceeding its temperature setting and I have to turn it off or down. Both the Air and Gravity always felt to me like it takes 1 hour to reach some sort of steady state HVAC and get the whole car and batteries into steady temp.
 
With 3.3.20 hopefully now “mostly” fixing the fob and black screen issues, in my opinion, the HVAC control software needs to be Lucid’s next priority. It is a shame that such a future forward vehicle has an HVAC control equivalent to a 30-40 year old car. Everyone having to dive into the manual controls is so 1980s.

I think the whole climate control needs love. The graphics look like a preliminary placeholder with the gray boxes and I found the graphics column that you can use to change the ventilation setting doesn't move when using buttons. And it never kept any setting. Lucid should look at Mercedes. You can set how you want to start up when entering the car based on outside temps.
 
Glad this was noted. At this time of year I get in my Gravity GT and find that the AC on the driver side is off. I have noticed this several times and am wondering if my actions are contributing to the issue.
--I have needed to activate the front window defroster to clear the fogging that occurs with the local weather conditions.
--My wife notes that the fan noise is much louder and adjusts it down a little.
--We arrive at our destination and park and the AC is off on the driver side which was the side with the fan speed reduction that was adjusted lower, now off and I have to actively turn AUTO back on.
1. Is the activation of the defrost defeating the ability of returning to the settings prior to activating defrost?
2. Also when we have passengers in the rear seating areas will that activate the rear seating AC system? I am not sure if the passengers are manually activating the system from the second row. I'm not sure and have noticed when I check the rear system is actually on and we most often do not have passengers on a daily basis.
 
Mine is okay but it does have a few of the quirks listed here. The main one is it never remembers settings for me so I have to adjust each time.

The one thing I noticed was cold air coming by the door when I reach down by driver's side. I thought SC visit to insulate the door more. Then, I realized that even though I didn't turn it on, the rear HVAC was coming on and blowing cold air, even if I had heat on in the front. Sounds like others are having this, too. (I believe it's when I set it to Auto---should this turn on back also?)

So yeah...nothing major for me, but definitely something they need to finesse.
 
I honestly don’t know how the HVAC auto system works. Half the time I drive with my son in the back seat the rear HVAC is off even though it’s supposed to be on auto.

I can’t tell if it’s off by design or if the system is too stupid to know that there’s a passenger in the back and needs to turn on.

Something tells me that the software is too stupid to know that there’s a passenger in the back.
