Decibel data laminated glass?

Ok, I am wayyy into the weeds, but has anyone measured the decibel level in the gravity with and without the comfort and convenience package? On the same road and speed? I have seen notch ev video where he measured the db level in his car with the extra laminated glass, but wondering if there is a detectable difference because?

FWIW, with an Apple Watch series 9, in my GGT with the package I got 65dB at 75mph on the Florida Turnpike. On the same road, same speed, same hour, my wife’s Model Y juniper got the same 65dB, which was sad to see considering the price points of the two vehicles.

Interesting idea but very hard to isolate variables. Tire noise is a huge component of road noise (and to make things even more challenging, tire noise varies greatly with tire wear). I think you need to factor in the tire make, model, size and age.

But I love this!

That is sad and surprising!

Wow!! I didn’t realize that these can make significant db changes, even just size of the same tire. It sounds (lol!) like gravity with the laminated glass probably isn’t materially superior in road noise dampening to other decent cars. I guess I can test the db of an air horn (other load noise projection) and then see the results from inside the gravity with and without the comfort package, repeat the noise at different locations around the car. Lucid is lucky, I am far away from their stores! “No, no I am not looking to test drive, today I am hear to make noise.”

That is consistent with the Car and Driver test results of the Model Y and Gravity GT.
Model Y: 66DB at 70mph
Gravity GT: 66dB at 70mph
Escalade IQ: 68dB at 70mph
Vistiq: 67db at 70mph
EX90: 66db at 70mph
BMW iX: 63db at 70mph

Starting to get to the sound floor, all use acoustic laminated glass at this point.

I'm clearly in the minority here, but as I posted in the forum months ago when the Gravity was first available for test ride, I didn't think the test Gravity was any more quiet than other EVs in the same price range.
I didn't know for sure if the car had the comfort & convenience package, though. It did have the 22-23 wheels.

Savagegeese thinks the glass canopy adds to the noise and the BMW iX is noticeably quieter.

Last time I demoed the Gravity I test drove the latest iX immediately after and yeah, you can tell.

Interesting, has anyone commented/tested that the air is more quiet with a metal roof vs glass?

BMW ix is the best in cancelling noise, I tested the car couple of times it is just wow

Other than the ride comfort abd noise cancellation, the rest is just below lucid

Messaging seats are a joke compare to lucid

The list is huge and it lacks
Charging speed, range, app (not all markets), no OTA and etc

The glass canopy in the Air was quite a bit noisier than my Air Touring with the aluminum roof and alcantra liner. There is a reason no concerts and studio recordings are done in a glass bubble...I will test with the Gravity on my cheapo phone app with and without the roof shades to see if that helps a bit.

Correct, and I don't believe Lucid is using any stereo based active noise cancelling.

agreed on the seats, Lucid is Mercedes-Benz level (though Out of Spec found a lump on the driver's side they didn't like in their GGT loaner). Anything that massages the gluteus maximus for me is a bonus at this point. The 2026 iX fixed for me its seats some, by lengthening the under thigh bolster.

BTW, The BMW iX does have OTA updates and I'm not sure what is missing from the BMW app vs. Lucid. Halo feature maybe? The BMW even has remote summon & park.

As we know, the BMW Neuve Klasse will address the battery aspects next year (though for me, I'd wait for the iX5 for the size and split tailgate)

FWIW, the two Tesla Model Xs we leased (2020 and 2023) both had signifcant wind/cabin noise from bad seals. Despite taking the first X back to Tesla twice to fix, they never did. The 2023 started out quieter than the 2020, but the chassis creaked and groaned as well.
