The Car had been stellar except early days quality control issues which were rectified.
I ask Lucid and the service advisor does my battery have any faults or has thrown any codes they said no it would of by now if it did.
Thus it was fine for all precious software version until now. The hardware battery bricks faults appear at the same time that I got 2.8.16 which also showed worse miles per kWh from the usual and now I have a dead car. What a great set of parameters to experience on a cold night in California. If you have worse miles per kWH with 2.8.16 take note below or pray you get 2.8.17 as soon as possible.

What happens when your car has a drive system error? Please see my guidelines below and picture for reference.
  1. The car cannot shift into neutral. No matter the methods found online.
  2. Door handles and opening / closing mechanism are dead.
    • Leave your door open so you have access to steering wheel and interior.
  3. Cannot close or open trunk.
    • Leave your trunk open so you have access to 12v battery to jump for other functions.
    • Also take the tow hook out of your trunk just in case.
  4. Wait for the tow truck in the cold to make sure no one vandalizes your vehicle, as lucid customer care does not work past 9 pm PST.

WHAT A GREAT EVENING! YES THIS IS MY LIVE EXPERIENCE AS I AM WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK AT 10:34 PM PST.

Sorry to hear. Hope that your situation gets resolved very soon — both for tonight and in terms of resolution for the car.

That sucks!
“Door handles and opening / closing mechanism are dead.”
Were you able to open the door with the handle/lever/switch from inside the car?

Oh definitely YES. That mechanical release design from inside the car works flawlessly and intuitively. It’s light years ahead of the convoluted cyber truck manual release lol.

The concerning part now is I am no longer able to access the inside of the vehicle. There is no physical to unlock / detach via the door handles.

The Lucid Air is now safely towed to the service center awaiting diagnosis now.

Exactly the same happened to my Gravity. I was told the battery needs replacement.

I had a Hyundai Ioniq 5 rental over the holidays and they have a mechanical key lock under the driver's handle with the key hidden in the fob, which I thought was a nice, hybrid design. (no, didn't need to use it :)).

My prior BMW 5 series had the physical key inside the fob.

*Update!*

My car is back and alive!

They have diagnosed that it is the Contactors in the car that were at fault, as they were "stuck open" at the time of my drive system error.

If any electrical and hardware experts could help chime in and educate us with your knowledge and experience that would a wonderful education read!

Please see portion of contactor serial numbers below.

*Note* : I do now know if it's okay or safe to share these serials numbers on the internet. If someone can chime in on this that would be great! If it's not allowed I was like to ask an Admin to fully delete them then.
