Hands Free Drive Assist Engagement.

Air GT.... drove 100 miles from San diego to LA. Hands-free not presenting itself for the first 60 miles from San to LA in the 5, 73 and 405. Then perfect full engagement for the entire trip home on the same day. All updates current and performed a reboot recently. Any idea why this is happening?

I drove from LA to Phoenix on Thanksgiving day and couldn't activate anything beyone adaptive cruise control (have DD Pro). I hadn't run the most recent update and the cameras did get fairly dirty while sitting parked outside for a week or so. Haven't had a chance to see if the problem corrected itself.

Software related. Nothing mechanical about this.

I was having the same issue with the Hands Free Drivers Assist. Whether or not it would engage seems to depend on some magical gremlin's mood at the time.

It got so erratic that I took mine in for service. Their response, "working as intended". The problem with this car now isn't something service can fix. It's all software glitches. They need to fire their entire software team from the top down and re-staff it.

Software team should display Drive Assist message when a driver attempts to turn it on or why it's turned off:

Auto Lane Change disabled due to speed under ...mph

Drive Assist unavailable in this location...
