Lucid Air
Our 2023 AWD Air Pure with Dream Drive Pro, comfort & convenience package, etc was rear ended in stop and go Turnpike traffic a few weeks ago. Our car didn’t budge but it had significant rear end damage. Insurance adjuster estimated $27k. Certified collision center’s estimate was $87k. Assume it’s totaled but have no idea of value - it had fewer than 15k miles. Definitely would get another but need AWD and this was Pure’s last year offering that. Amy experience out there? Liberty Mutual to surrogate with Prigressive.

If the repair estimate if 87K that car is a total. My advice would be to get a Touring if you want AWD.

Even at $27k in damages it might be totaled - given that the market value is probably in the high $30k to mid $40k range. What’s the percentage of damages to market value to be considered totaled - 50%? Of course, I’d put more faith in the certified collision center’s numbers than the adjuster for sure.

Given the large disparity between the 2 quotes, the shop is likely going to have trouble getting that approved. You, as the vehicle owner, should hopefully have the right to appraisal on your policy, which can be enacted in the event that the insurance refuses to budge on their price. Each side will hire their own appraiser and then meet to determine a fair price (or agree to total the vehicle).
