Gravity Touring deliveries starting next month?

They did miss a huge opportunity have it available before tax credits expired, that value prop at 79500 - 7500 is a crazy good almost no brainer....
Yep, they always digged their hole bigger. They delayed the AIR base model release losing the 7.5k credit on their supposedly volume seller. Then Biden came out with the 55k limit on sedans and 80k on SUV's. So now they miss both since Trump took it away. Great planning!

They are doing the best they can. Introducing the Touring six months ago, to take advantage of the tax credit would have lowered cash flow and not increased sales. Sales before September 30 were mostly constrained by production issues not orders. Having another 5-10 thousand orders for Touring models would not have increased sales at all. Even now they seem supply constrained (magnets, chips aluminum) so what's the use of taking additional orders before straightening out production.

Once they have production under control and begin seriously working down GGT orders, they should start taking orders for the Touring.

I agree in the sense of managing the difficult situation with supply chain, and working 'agile' fashion to get some cars out and learn since they 30% of the car in software is always going to improve over the years. I just don't think the strategy works anymore. See Cybertruck. 2MM pre-orders, Foundation Series released (this is fine with limited special editions), they the high trims, then never releasing the base model work truck with all the orders. Now it will never sell anywhere near 250K units. Will be very curious to see how Rivian handles their R2 launch sequence, they also can't botch it. No other OEM releases cars with half the trims unavailable and expects to make sales.

Yeah, "agile" is great for software because it's easy to move fast and iterate based on feedback.

It's not the same with manufacturing. You have to go through so many steps to sort out tooling, assembly, production validation, longevity, etc. Maybe even safety certifications too

Only comment on Cybertruck is the 2MM reservations were BS. They were all refundable, so why not get “a place in line”? There was never that much demand for them. Just too niche, IMHO. Where I live, I do see 2-5 per day. I always shake my head.

I think Rivian will be fine with R2 - they’re cranking the R1s much faster than Lucid makes the Air. Could Lucid make the Air faster if demand were crazy? Probably, but they’ve never HAD to ramp to mass market production and Rivian has. So, I think that’s an advantage for Rivian, though I have zero intention of following through on my R2 reservation.

The thing is, SUV's and trucks are the "in" thing right now, so it's easy for Rivian to get as many R1s through the door as possible. For example, Porsche's best-selling models are the Macan and Cayenne, but we still know Porsche as the company that makes the iconic 911.

We can easily say a lot of "could've, would've, should've" with Lucid since they started out with a sedan, but we truly don't know if the Gravity we see today would be the same Gravity if it was Lucid's first model.

The most I can say is that I've been listening to Lucid's investor calls, and they've consistently been beating their year-over-year production numbers with the Air. I can only hope they can do the same with Gravity.

Beating? They keep dropping production targets. Remember when Peter said 50k units in 2023, 135k units in 2025. They can barely reach 10% of that.

A slap on the face! You would think they can make 1/3rd of that, nope… failed execution again and again. Conveniently blame “ supply chain” ….what ever that means.

That’s there Job! You make sure you don’t have supply chain issues! Executive team needs a real shake up before midsize.

Remember when Elon said he would be selling 250K Cybertrucks and 20MM EVs and is barely selling 12.5K/2MM cars? Same argument, except they pumped their stock up to dilute shareholders which has put them in an incredible financial position, although also losing 2MM free money from Carbon credit sales moving forward. Directionally Lucid is actually doing fine, tactically yes plenty of things to be improved but I always see them trying to improve.

I don’t think they are doing fine, can’t even produce 20k vehicles and they released both models with huge delays and with terrible software and now trying to catch up. Reviews are already out there….

Again, a whole lot of "could've, would've, should've". I'm focused on the here and the now.

And right now, they are doing better over time.

And if you think supply chains are easy to keep strong, I could easily go into a long rant about just-in-time logistics, the lack of investment into long-term manufacturing capability in supply chains, etc. I have experience working in steelmaking, and if you think a supply chain of good, high-quality steel is easy to make because we've been doing it at scale for decades upon decades, there's a very long lecture I could dive into.

But that would derail this thread, so I'll leave it at that.

I think “directionally” was the operative word. Lucid is producing more cars now than they have historically. Delivering more cars and slowly squashing bugs with Gravity. Will that be enough? No idea. No opinion, either. Only time will tell…and the patience and $ of KSA.

Please do not post the same rant in multiple threads, it is against the guidelines and off topic for this thread.

I would like to see the Touring specs, why don’t they release them? Very disingenuous.

They released info about it today. here's a link.

Starts at $79,900 USD.

the biggest thing that stands out to me is the 89 kWh battery pack and 337 mile range. Given that the range is coming in below EPA in owner reports, this is a bit troubling.

Edit: Tourings in inventory.

Still an okay deal given it’s more than $20,000 less than the GGT. Although, not as competitive with the X as I’d hoped. Not for me, but to draw others in.

I take that back. Didn’t realize X was now $99,999. That’s outrageous.

My 2016 model s 90d had 292 rated range new with basically the same pack size. I think Tesla and lucid use the same 5 cycle rating system so apples to apples.

In 10 years time gained almost 10% efficiency on a bigger platform, which mean efficiency gain is actually probably more like 25%-30%.

I think that’s kind of cool
