As an owner, why are you investing in Lucid?

By the time guys like me start hearing about a stock, it’s exponential opportunity is usually long gone.

Well good thing for you LCID has a long way to go. And an upward trajectory to boot. I think it’s a good idea for all to buy in. Obviously the horizon is long for this, but buy and hold.

Started to accumulate since 2021 (with alot of paper loss of course) now with 20K+ shares selling covered calls to pay for the car loan.

I think after RS, the stock is looking more stable.

Though same category I don't have TSLA stock and think LCID is totally the opposite in nature, TSLA stock got inflated for the price today whereas LCID gets shorted massively whenever there is good news.

Owning Air and seeing Gravity, I have all the reason to believe mid sized will be good and take a big chuck of the EV market.

I’m an owner and do have a very small stock position (just 425 shares). I like the car, although they still have a ways to go to fix the tech. I’m comfortable they will get there. As an investor though I’m not that bullish, primarily because of potential dilution and also how difficult it will be for this company to ultimately turn a profit. That said, I may add to my position - but really because I love the car and not as a smart investor haha!

That plus there was only a niche market for a car that initially cost over $100,000 led me to hold off on reinvesting.
This can't be emphasized enough. The only way for a company exclusively targeting this market to be profitable is to push prices even higher, establish dedicated and complete brand cache (perhaps via racing?) and loyalty, and then keep volumes down so that demand outweighs supply.

In other words, be like Ferrari. Not likely to happen for Lucid. So, like Tesla and soon Rivian, Lucid needs a mid-market vehicle that ticks the right boxes at the right price.

Peter Rawlinson built a fantastic car, but the people responsible for software, marketing etc leave much to be desired.
Scuttlebutt is that Rawlinson interfered with the early software development efforts, trying to enforce hardware development practices on the software development teams.

to answer the original question, I'm not.

For anyone that card, Lucid just rolled a chunk of its debt pushing out the e convertible from 2026 to 2031 with four years NC. PIF helped hedge it.

I am not really counting on the stock beyond spec, but for those who say “it’s going BK”, it feels like PIF is going to help give Lucid at least through the delivery and marketing of its mid market car…

….does any of that make the car wake up faster from the app

PIF needs to seriously look at management. How come they repeated the same mistakes in the Gravity with the Air? Are they even competent to get the midsize to market without repeating these issues- supply chain/software? Will the midsize be really production ready in 2026 or is it the same bluff they pulled with the Gravity?

It will be for sure a rinse and repeat. Delivery 5 or 10 by end of 2026 and start working on actually deliveries around 2027 July-Aug.
Just look at the Gravity Touring, its already Nov 12 and they dindt even provided the config, EPA and stuff in USA and still they say will be delivered end of this year, its BS…

It’s arguable the Gravity was realt delivery ready in 2026 either. Huge black eye for Lucid.

Stock tanking, Wall Street has no trust in the CEO or management. They don’t want to push the midsize forwards because it will eat into there “few” Gravity sales. A backwards way of looking at it. When you are struggling selling a high priced vehicle, you pivot. Speed up midsize, “ COMPROMISE”……

Rivian will beat them again with the midsize and take market share. This notion that the management has that they want to build the “ best vehicle” is ludicrous. They release “ best vehicles” with crappy software. No one cares what Lucid “ thinks “ about their vehicles. Lucid management thinks waiting another 2 years to get midsize properly out is ok……nope, it’s not.

Bring it forwards a few months. Not easy, but they need to climb out of the hole they dug for themselves. And fix the software!

I see that some people who buy Lucid Airs/Gravities also buy the company's stock. When I decided to get a Lucid Air, I knew there was some risk the company might not survive as an ongoing concern, so I didn't want to double my risk by buying Lucid stock. If the company goes belly up, the car's value would plummet, and if the company failed I would lose my investment in their stock as well. This makes me wonder why so many Lucid car buyers also buy their stock. Doesn't this seem like a high-risk proposition? Just wondering what the thinking is on this.
It is a high risk proposition, but there is another way to look at this: buyers have invested the time and energy to due diligence the car, understood the engineering, value proposition, etc. The subset that buy are convinced, and being convinced they can then leverage that information to decide if they also want to invest in the company. As part of a portfolio strategy that makes sense- you only need to find a few areas you believe you have an information advantage, this might be one of them.

I considered doing the same- when I looked into the Gravity I also considered investing in Lucid. Ultimately I decided to both cancel my deposit and not invest, for different but related reasons. I canceled (or really delayed, I expect to get a Gravity sooner or later) because I felt the product was overpriced vs the competition and it came out less than fully baked. But I was otherwise very convinced by the engineering, as many are. I chose not to invest because good engineering does not make a good business, and the automotive business is incredibly hard. Every legacy US automaker going back to 1900 went bankrupt or merged except for Ford. Tesla proved it could be done, but it the massive advantage of both massive piles of government money and the fact that it was growing into the vacuum.

Lucid has engineering. Not execution, not economies of scale, not government money, not a lower cost of production (ie Chinese), not a highly unique niche, not a brand advantage. And history has shown that great engineering does not make a great business case; original NSX, Porsche in the early 90s, 90s Mercedes. It’s a very long road to hoe from great engineering to a great business, speed is key. The way the Gravity rolled out seemed to underline that Lucid isn’t executing well enough. On the car yes, likely on day. On the business no.

This stock is getting pounded since the ridiculous one for 10 split. It’s now worth about $1.50. …… aka )15.00
25% drop

@PetevB, always bringing the amazing posts. My only bone to pick with your thoughtful post is that it's "row to hoe," bro.

Note - I did say I invested in the stock as “spec”. I wouldn’t go and put my 401k into it. I didn’t put enough in that matters either way, but it’s interesting.

This is also why I leased. It’s not the best financial option for me, but as much as I love my Gravity and love how it drives, etc, I have no idea how/if others will buy it or if/how they’ll get the middle market car out.

I do think coming out after the Rivian R2 (again) creates an issue for Lucid. I also think it would be way too hard for them to “pull it forward” given their scale. You don’t have to be first to market if you’re best. The challenge for Lucid has been you really have to be best at everything, not just engineering, but software too…or close to it. Rivian’s software is “meh” at best in our R1S.

Excellent, thanks- I always did need an editor. But hey, at least you can tell AI didn’t write it…
That’s an insightful observation, Pete! Searching for minor typos IS a great was to spot an LLM from an actual human.

Would you like me to look for other posts of yours that would support a conclusion that you’re not a bot or AI agent?

Here’s a natural follow-up you could send, depending on whether you want to keep it playful or steer it toward a thoughtful exchange:
Option 1 – Lighthearted / witty:
Ha! Sure, but if you find any that do sound like a bot, I’ll just claim they were written during my caffeine-deficiency phase.
Option 2 – Curious / engaging:
That’d be interesting actually — what kind of patterns do you look for when deciding something was written by a human vs. an AI?
Option 3 – Self-aware / conversational:
I’d be curious to see what you find — though if any of them pass as AI, maybe that’s a compliment to my efficiency!
Would you like me to tailor the tone toward friendly banter, professional, or clever but polished (for something like LinkedIn)?
