The glitches finally got to me. I kept thinking the next software update would fix it, but no.
The bluetooth key fob that kept locking and unlocking the doors while I was anywhere near the car. I turned that feature off, but then the handle push trick and/or key fob click was hit-or-miss; The random blank screen problem was scarry, even though it always came back on after I pulled off the road and did the brake-X-microphone reset. Too many times for that to be acceptable. The Dream Drive Pro, that I anxiously awaited activation for, turned into a wrestling match, when it worked at all, and randomly announced that it was "not available in this area" only to reconnect a minute later on the same highway, then cautioned me to pay attention while I was consciously and conspicuously, sternly looking ahead (after making sure the camera could see me);

Facial recognition upon start up was also a hit-or-miss, green check or red X, but it didn't have any effect on the operation of the car anyway; Of course I couldn't put the car into drive until it adjusted all my personal settings, following my wife's last trip; Speaking of that issue, the car almost always recognized, and adjusted the settings to her instead of me, the driver, when we were together, forcing me to re-establish my profile and wait. Or, make her stand 30 ft from the car while I got behind the wheel. (Could be that it connected to the key fob with the strongest battery, but that's just my guess given the bluetooth format issue)

Lane keep assist was way too hurky-jurky; Apple car-play regularly disconnected; Air conditioner sounded like a V-8 revving under the hood; and, speaking of sound, the whining noise from the front motor is completely unacceptable. I understand that has been somewhat improved on the '26, but I'll never know.
Oh, and lets talk about the rated 411 miles on a full charge! No amount of hyper-mile driving with 19" wheels, flat terrain, beautiful fall weather on my regular 350 mile round trip Houston to Austin could get me back home without a Buc-ees stop for extra miles.

FORTUNATELY, mine was a pre-owned '23 with only 8,000 miles, for which I paid $50,000 less than sticker. (Sorry for new Lucid buyers) I only lost another $5K to get rid of it.
So, good luck guys. It's back to ICE Mercedes for me. Oh, and by-the-way; I sold my Lucid stock before the recent fall so at least I made a couple of bucks on that deal.
Out.

At least it stops after about 10 times.

I’m sorry you had all those problems. Your problems seem to be magnified about 10 times compared to what I’ve experienced.

This is why all the software engineers at Lucid need to be driving the cars full-time.

I have to agree with :Carsong". Bought a 2023 demo with about 11,000 miles. After 15 months it has 27,000. I was so fed up in June I put it up for sale for about $55,000 and never got an offer on a car that listed for over $89,000 so I took it off the marked Sept. 1st. The recent 3 updates have helped some but EVERYTHING discribed above I am dealing with every day. I just bought 19" wheels hoping that will help with lack of range but not looking likely. Anyone interested?

I think Lucid is never gonna fix the key problem or never can. Its more than 3 years and they didn't fix it to a level of average satisfactory. We as owners feeling embarrassment always waiting for the car to unlock when trying to praise the car. And higher ups at Lucid are laughing at us taking all the bonuses and crushing the company. If its not for the drive i am already out of my car 😡

I'm done with Lucid too...been a fan for over 4.5years...but combination of service issues and software glitches and bugs has finally become too much...installed rubber gaskets myself..added duct tape when needed...the looked back at 2+ years of ownership and it's simply not cool all I've had to deal with...while I'm keeping the car for a bit...as soon as an opportunity arises. I'll dump it.

I think Lucid says i dont care or else key issue have been fixed by now or we may have got news keys already and they might have not repeated same thing with gravity. I would partner with some one having working keys rather than say ohh wow we will be first level 4 and we cannot get in the car at the same time 😆

Another point I should make. I was a Tesla Model S owner for a three year lease, '17-'20. So, I spent about $36,000 and gave it back. That's just the nature of a lease and you know that going in. During that time, I never even visited a service center and everything worked as described.
While I was back in an ICE car for a few years, I watched the development of the Lucid. Under Peter Rawlinson's tutelage, I witnessed an exciting new generation of EVs come to fruition. The Lucid promised to be everything a Tesla should be, but better in every way. And it was, not only on paper but in testing as well. I knew they would be overpriced initially so I waited for a pre-owned AT and was not disappointed. Then the gremlins started showing up. Someday, maybe all the bugs will be sorted out, but as for me, been there done that.

I feel ya. I regret my purchase. Mobile service just messed my car up now I’m going to have to ship it off. I hope. I was promised “door to door delivery of luxury vehicle when we do your service off site”. Instead I got stood up TWICE and then mobile service made both my issues worse and both have to be redone.

That’s the thing, either they can’t fix it, or won’t fix it, neither of which is acceptable. And now everyone knows Lucid will absolutely sell broken cars. They knew this was going to be a mess selling all these busted Gravities. And you got 5 year old features that barely work on the Air, if they work at all! It’s pathetic really.

As a 26 owner and to be fair to Lucid, yes these have been fixed. The rest I agree with. These aren’t really 6 figure quality cars. I would trade facial recognition for a better entry system or seat preconditioning that worked in a heartbeat!

Owner of 2024 Pure here. I never carry the key fob; I always use my phone. I have the key card in my wallet as a backup, but I have never had to use it. I often have to wake my phone up, especially when I haven't been using it, such as when I'm shopping. If I do that, 99% of the time it works. The remaining 1% of the time, I have to open the app, and the car immediately unlocks.

My other car is a BMW iX, which uses a phone as a key. Occasionally, I have to wake up the phone to unlock the vehicle too.

I am sorry for the trouble others are facing. My experience with Lucid has been stellar, and the mobile service in the DFW area is one of the best. Especially compared to the runaround I get from the BMW dealership from time to time.

I wanted to offer a differing perspective for prospective owners out there. Lucid is my first EV, but I have owned luxury ICE vehicles before. This is the best car I've ever had, even better than the iX, which is a fantastic vehicle.

I’ve owned most luxury ICE brands. All better build quality than Lucid. But I’ve owned Teslas, which are garbage quality compared to Lucid-except-Teslas work. And Tesla service is competent. I think most of us just wanted a better built Tesla and that’s what Lucid appeared to be.

But they cannot help but snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with their bad software, bad service, and giving Consumer Reports and Savage Geese totally had baked cars that they hated 😂 WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???

As pointed out in the thread discussing Consumer Reports, CR buys their own vehicles, and so manufacturers have no opportunity to ensure their vehicle is extra-special quality controlled. And while there's a part of me that is amazed they're letting press people have loaner vehicles at this stage, I'm sort of glad that they're doing it. The alternative would essentially be to lie to the public about the quality of the vehicle. At least now, most purchasers are hopefully aware of the quality issues, and knowingly rolling the dice. 🤣

Oh I’m not surprised. They first Lucid they tried to delivery me at the showroom had a dent in the trunk. They said drive it 500 miles home then we will ship it back and have it painted and loan you a different car for two weeks then ship the car back! 😂🤪🤣 who’s going to do that?? They have sold thousands of Gravities with known issues, nothing surprises me about they’re willing to deliver to anybody!

My lease is expiring in Jan and we have decided to move on as well with a different brand . Too many issues with it . I love how the car looks and drives but everything else is not there yet . Maybe will revisit in about 5 years ..

Yeah, it's a sad commentary on the nature of corporations that Lucid is continuing to ramp production and selling Gravitys, rather than admitting they need another 6 months to fix a bunch of basic issues. Doubtless the executive team feels that pressure from Wall Street and the Saudis leave them no choice but to plough ahead, and early purchasers will just have to put up with being free quality-testers for the company. I have a GGT order in-production, and I'm still uncertain as to whether I'm actually willing to buy it when the SA calls me up and says it's ready. This is the first vehicle I've considered purchasing where I felt the need to read up on California lemon laws ahead of time!

Yeah these guys aren’t the next Tesla.

They’re the next Fisker.

I totally get selling a car because its problems just wear you down. In fact, I've done it four times over the years.

1. 2004 Mercedes SL55 AMG: Brake-by-wire system failed twice, once also losing manual braking and causing me to roll out of a garage onto a 3-lane street in downtown Chicago. I finally stopped the car by steering it into a curb. (Mercedes quietly discontinued the feature the next model year.) Alternator failed, and its replacement also failed as soon as they hooked it up. The next one had to come from Germany, which kept the car in the shop almost a month. Gear shift linkage broke. Trunk seals leaked. Seat heaters burned out. I finally took the car down to our vacation home in Florida to use there, but after finding all I did on each visit was take it to the dealer to leave there for repair, I just dumped it.

2. 2003 Audi S6: Battery kept going dead when parked overnight. Audi said it was a problem between the car's electronics and the GM On*Star system that premiered that year in some Audis. They were never able to resolve the problem, and after almost a year of carrying around jump cables, I finally dumped the car.

3. 1998 Corvette C5: Removable hardtop panel leaked like a sieve. I carried a roll of paper towels in the car to stuff into the top of the driver-side window during a rain or at a carwash. Multiple service visits never resulted in a good seal. Brake discs repeatedly warped and had to be replaced three times. Tie rod fell off while driving slowly over a railroad crossing. Car kept going into limp mode (8 mph). Multiple service visits did not resolve. When it happened when I was on the inside lane of I-95 in Connecticut next to a concrete divider where I couldn't pull off the road, I finally managed to get across three other lanes of high-speed traffic onto a shoulder. I walked down a nearby exit to a service station, called a tow truck, and never got in the car again.

4. 2000 Jaguar S-Type: Dashboard completely blacked out several times and finally had to be replaced. Then, three months after purchasing it, the transmission failed. Head gasket developed a leak. Several other issues I no longer remember clearly. Car was lemon-lawed.

Even the two Honda Odysseys we had were not problem-free. We dealt with windshield distortion, a bad gear shifting algorithm which it took Honda over a year to fix with a software rewrite, a right-rear sliding rear door that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, a USB port that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, and a seat position memory that for 8 years constantly defaulted to the secondary setting.

We have three Lucids. None are flawless, and the software drives me absolutely nuts. But none are the worst cars I've had in terms of reliability or frequency of repair . . . and all have the best balance of driving dynamics, space, luxury, and structural solidity in their category.

It's quite unfortunate that it has come to this. Like they say "you can't make omelet without breaking a few eggs". I Wish you a better luck with your next car.
