It goes from the RJ11 post to USB in center console, I just ran it under the glass cockpit and tuck the excess cable into where the center console meets the dashboard, it actually fits in there fine. My only issue is the car does seem to generate a Ka band itself sometimes in the high 33-34ghz band so I’ve been getting a lot of false alerts but you can use the advanced settings to exclude those bands. Thanks I had gotten this cheaper alternative from Amazon and it wasn't working. Maybe I'll get that one you suggest.
 
@DrZorro have you been getting low level false Ka band alerts from the car periodically? I filtered out segment 4 on the R8 but still sometimes get the false alerts, it’s kind of annoying but I also don’t want to turn off a frequency cops use.

Bunny: It is possible that one of he car's radars (such as in the side mirrors) may be causing this.

I would follow the suggestion from Bunny. The first 2 of your Amazon choices have poor reviews or frequent returns. The PD USB standard is complex.

Yes canceled and ordered the uniden specific cable. Fingers crossed.

Yeah it’s gotta be something from the car. When parked in my driveway I get a low amplitude Ka band that’s in the 34.something range (it’s not my garage door opener cuz it also happens periodically on the road and at work when I first get into the car) so I silenced that segment. Supposedly cops don’t use that one as much although I hate to turn off anything. The device has filtering so I’m not sure why it doesn’t filter that but it’s gotta be coming from the car.

The uniden specific cable does not trigger the USB c unfortunately. If I plug into the outlet in the rear with a brick the cable will power through the uniden cable so the cable is probably good. I'll mention this in my next service visit when I go in to do the cross bars.

Interesting, my identical cable (RJ11 to USBC) with the R8 works via the center console USB jack. Does your phone charge off both USB c in the center console?

Yes phone can charge. I have an R4. I wonder if it's not capable?

Oh that might be it, I think that cable was made specifically for R8, I thought you had that. Oops, maybe they have another one. I’d actually call BTS or whoever you ordered it from.

It does work with R4, just dont know if R4 can communicate through to the USB to trigger? Ugh
 
Ok I found a workaround that uses about 5 adapters/cables, but in the end what I found is that a cable that can negotiate a 5V output is needed. And then you need a bunch of adapters and cables from there.

Basically using this:

Seems to do the job. But it's a ridiculous workaround.
