A pillar blind spot concerns

Those are for covering the blind spot to the side behind the driver.

The A-pillar is the one at the sides of the windshield that is quite large to provide crush protection. The blind spot covers an area including the crosswalk as you approach a left turn.

This is something the Model X shares, and as others have mentioned, I got used to it. Gravity seemed about the same in that regard on my test drive.

Yeah, I'm not quite to the point where I'm prepared to rely only on the sensors. I want to see for myself as well. I feel like it's a belt-and-suspenders safety system, not a replacement for looking with your own eyes.
 
Thank you for the responses. I did another test drive, this time one with an aluminum roof, and maybe I had my seat set better but the a-pillar wasn't as horrible as I remember from the first test drive. It would still take some getting used to, especially coming from my current vehicle with more upright a-pillars that don't obstruct the view as much.

Wonderful car overall. Now it's decision time.
 
I feel Air sedan is a very personal vehicle so you do need to take a bit of time to drive it and get the position right. I am on the shorter side but turned out the best position is to sit low for the best visibility of outside and the instrument cluster.

Let us know how you decide. It took me less than a week to stop noticing the A-pillars and I have found them to be a non-issue.

I chose the metal roof. My Dad bought an AT a month after driving my AGT and his has a glass roof. I significantly prefer the metal roof and he prefers his glass one…

My reasons for the metal roof? Better cooling in Summer and better sound from SSPro all year round.
 
I am 10 months in and I’ve almost been in a number of accidents because of the A pillar blind spot. The A pillars, and seating position make me question the validation testing on this car.

Sit lower vis gets better for me.

I too am 10 months in and have no problem with the A-pillar. I’d suggest trying to adjust your seating position differently?
 
I, too, noticed the blinds spots but I was coming from almost a 20 year old car. So I was very used to my old car and I believe most modern cars have comparatively reduced visibility in exchange for camera views.

I’ve had mine a year now, no glass roof, but even the other day I nearly pulled out from a stop in front of a car coming from my right because I just never saw them despite looking and moving my head around to try to avoid the a pillar. So they’re definitely a challenge
 
The adjustment I've made for the blind spots are to wait longer for potential crossing traffic at T-intersections. I either check multiple times to allow for a car to move through the blind spot, or if it's a single check, I made it a longer than usual check. It's saved the day a couple of times.
