They haven’t changed pricing since it was introduced last November as far as I can remember except they added the power package for $600…sorry, just seems like an inflammatory post…
 
Sure, when I get to my computer I can share some additional details, but it was the nickel and diming that got to me. One glaring example was a simple thing like the documentation fee...first it was $75 when I ordered, then it became $450 now the car is in production.

🤷‍♂️ not meant to be inflammatory. Still love my Air, and I wish the Gravity all the best...maybe just my sales associate/experience?

Totally fair. And I have no idea what the original documentation fee was. I didn’t pay any attention. I read your post as if the increase must’ve been quite significant for you to walk away or the lease/finance rate was bonkers…

Where were you even quoted a documentation fee? I haven't seen that quoted anywhere at all on the order.
 
I would bet that this is not a documentation fee but rather an EV registration fee. My order still shows a $75 document fee but being in Texas I know that I will have to pay an EV registration fee of $400 when I close on car purchase and then an additional $200 every year on registration renewal. A lot of states are adding in this in to make up for EVs not pay gas tax designed to support highway construction/repair. Of course in Texas this is well beyond what I would have paid in gas tax for an ICE car but Texas is not known for being EV friendly.

Just highlighting in yellow here the documentation fee as stated and not an, "EV Registration" fee. The $75 fee was from when I pre-ordered the car, the $450 is the screen grab of the cash price portion I just got showing the increased fee. I will have a bigger breakdown of the costs I was seeing on another post, but wanted to clear this up now.

When did you order? It says “Fall Availability” on Tech Package, so you must’ve ordered after mid May or so (I think) as they didn’t announce that in November 2024. I am just trying to understand when fee may have changed.

Sounds like you already cancelled, but if the fee changed without your knowledge, I would've pushed back on it.

Seeing this, I can see your argument. I would also be upset and push back at Lucid. Did they give you an explanation on why the increase? Were you able to use this increase as justification for canceling your order and getting your $1000 deposit returned?

That was one of the things I pushed back on, they didnt budge (on that or the referal credit). The lease price is what got to me ultimately to abandon the car. When trying to leverage the $7500 credit...the price was crazy ($142K). This is a quick a dirty spreadsheet I didn't get a chance to update with better descriptions, but I wanted to make sure I got something out here since people asked and I didnt want to leave people hanging or thinking Inwas just being a troll. I can always update it if its confusing or if im dumb and missed something!

Registration on a new car in Oregon lasts 4 years before it is time for renewal. After that 4 year period registration is renewed every 2 years. Are you sure Texas requires renewal every year??

It does seem odd that you’d walk from a $120k car over a $400+/- fee. Especially since you’re an existing owner so you know “things change” with Lucid.

Was it that fee or the lease rate? I do understand the lease rate as a reason, as it is, how shall I say, horrendous.

Yes, law was changed recently. Basically $400 for first 2 years paid at time of purchase, and then $200/year thereafter.
