Does any know how to change the headlight on Lucid Air? I am hit an animal and it broke the headlight clear housing. I can't find any info on the web on how to remove the head light. I hope I don't have to remove the bumper to replace it. I don't want to go through a repair shop at this time. I am pretty handy with car so I wanted to give a try. Thanks.

I believe it’s a pretty intensive process. Can you post a picture of the damaged light?

Might make sense to get a quote from Lucid and decide then if you wanna run it through your insurance.

Any work to the front that I have heard of requires taking off the entire front bumper. Hope this helps on expectations.

Yes, the front bumper must be removed, but as much as I applaud you wanting to take this on yourself, a new headlight will not power on without being coded to the car with the Lucid diagnostic software. If you have LiDAR or front facing cameras, other calibrations will also be needed after taking the bumper off the car.

Best to reach out to a Lucid certified body shop or a service center for assistance.

Man, the lack of attention to repairability is one of the main things that gives me 2nd thoughts of switching to an EV. I know there are reasons why modern cars are more tightly integrated and thus difficult to repair. But it does genuinely seem like EV engineers haven't given repairability enough thought.

Anyone can access the Lucid techinfo portal, pay the subscription fee, and get into the service manual. In terms of the complexity and engineering of the vehicle, that's a different story. We've had to invest significantly in tooling to be able to service these cars at our facility.

I truly believe that this is true of any modern car.

Certainly cars have gotten steadily harder to work on. I know shade tree mechanics who value old vehicles just for their simplicity. But EVs do seem to have taken it to a whole different level.

How do you do that? I’d buy that.
