What is going on with orders?

my order technically still says “in production” with no VIN, but it has a delivery date of Sept 30 at 4 pm.
I had a vin before scheduling… and then bumping up schedule. Waited for a while for the dream drive of my dreams…. Got it on 24th sept. Heard rumor that day that delivery advisors were doing at least 1 to 2 vehicles each per day. So how many delivery locales? Looks like a good qtr. Loving the car so far… got the bug fix update yesterday evening… lot less spurious messages on dash…

We stopped at the showroom while shopping today to get an in person update on our order (it is supposedly done with production but not clear where it is in the inspection stage). I asked about the inventory on the site being matched with existing orders. The manager said they are trying to do matches with existing orders, but it isn’t always perfect because it is a human doing it, as we suspected. We were willing to make some additional compromises on color, etc. to get an earlier vehicle and he found one for us that was also on the website inventory when I looked later. It had one design feature that we aren’t ready to compromise on. Yet! It’s gone now.

Was it the green with platinum appearance by chance? I snatched that one this afternoon.

It was. We still prefer the stealth, but we didn’t want the green before and are now willing to take that. So it might be just a matter of time until the platinum is fine.

I was alright with green or black but was firmly set on stealth…. Until today. Was just ready to have it stealth or not.

No doubt. I bet that will be us soon. Our areas of compromise are color and interior, not the features. Congratulations! Glad someone else is getting theirs soon.

About 1.5 hrs ago, in available vehicles for Gravity, was a vehicle that was 100% match to my order. WHY?

What is going on that orders arent being serviced first before going to available vehicles? There are many things that we say are unacceptable, but this truly is for a company to allow orders placed after to be serviced in a different order. This is why we queue for everything in life, and yet Lucid apparently doesnt feel like this societal norm is valid for their orders. May seem silly to some of you, but if this is how they treat potential buyers, not sure i want to work with a company that does this. Its pretty close to why im leaving Tesla in the first place. Elon placed his views of societal norms above the rest of us.

unacceptable Lucid, i expected better than that.
i'm in the exact same situation as you, i've seen cars in available that exactly matches my order but mine is still in production since 8/27. This isn't fair

FWIW - if you see the same exact match or another available GGT you are willing to compromise for; place the deposit. I just did for a Quantum, Mojave Purluxe, 20" & apparently when you get a hold of your SA they can swap your existing In Production VIN to that available GGT VIN

This is the right move if you want one ASAP. In my case they cancelled and refunded the old order and kept the new one, and I had the car 4 days later even though it said “available in 2 weeks.”

We’re you able to eliminate the added $2000 delivery charge?

TLDR; Yes they waived the fee because it could be delivered to me from its original location.

In my case the transport fee was only supposed to be $1000 to get it from Goose Island (Chicago) to Tyson’s Corner, from which it would be home delivered to me in Pittsburgh. However, they were able to deliver it directly to me from Goose Island instead (presumably to make sure it got here before the 30th) and just applied the $1000 transport fee payment to my final balance.

I was told whether they will waive the delivery fee or not depends on where the car currently is. If it's already on site somewhere they can't but if it's still on transport and can be easily rerouted or waiting to leave the factory they have more leeway in waiving the fee and applying it to the balance.

Or if it is on site and they decide it can be delivered directly from that location rather than moved to a closer site first.

That said, it's probably fair to say that whatever they have been willing to do in the past couple of weeks may no longer apply after Tuesday (until the end of the next quarter).

I think they mean delivering a load everywhere. It’s end of quarter so there’s always a big push to get cars delivered. Some people who were scheduled to take delivery on the 30th got moved up by a few days.

Still doesn’t answer your question of why your order was seemingly skipped and you found the same spec vehicle on the inventory page.
There seems to be a new batch of available GTs with the differently equipped features. Green and Black only s far but if you want one soon there are some more available.

Yeah one of the Quantum from Natick MA is my cancelation

From Lucid’s side, if they don’t match up available cars to existing orders and the car sells quickly anyway, then they get 2 sales out of it unless you cancel your order.
I can also confirm if you cancel your order they will keep your deposit. I got sick of waiting finally heard my dream edition ordered on day 1 was in production like six weeks ago then got a message that they found one with the same specs as mine they could get me soon. I decided I’d had enough and just canceled only to get a message my order was not eligible for refund…. There will never be a Lucid in my future if they stick to that decision…

Wait, are you saying you canceled the original order and took the other one they offered, or just cancelled?

If it was the former, the email means nothing and they will refund you anyway. I got two of those emails and two refunds before eventually taking delivery of my car.
