Rear window is cracked

Hi,

I have AGT 2022 but I just found my rear window is cracked like attached. It seems to be just stress cracking as I don’t see any issue around them.
I think I should use my insurance to replace it but can I use any window shop? Or it would be better to work with lucid service center?
Anyone also has idea about cost?

If there's no obvious source of damage, I'd see if your service center would be willing to replace it under warranty.

What I found is windows warranty is 1 year so I don’t think it will be covered by warranty

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the repair is not that simple. If you have a gloss roof, you will likely need to replace the platinum trim pieces that abut the glass, as well. And, you may also need to replace the light bar beneath the rear windshield. This repair is likely to cost several thousand dollars ($4,000 - $6,000) by the time you’re done. So, if you cannot get this covered under the warranty (and I would try), you should definitely reach out to your insurance carrier.

update: I talked with service center. They said the warranty for stress crack is 4 yrs / 50k miles so it will be covered by warranty.

The cost for me was $6,800 plus tax. Very glad yours is warranty!!

Yikes! It's kind of shocking how much EV repairs are. Seems to be an industry wide problem. As someone who's traditionally purchased my vehicles and kept them long past the end of the warranty period, these tales really make me reconsider my approach.

For my gravity, I did buy an extended warranty as I plan on keeping it long past the warranty. In the AGT I had the majority of the cost was trim parts that weren’t really meant to be taken off and put back so they were damaged when being removed (I was warned it was likely). The newer Airs, as I understand it, are not the same (but I could be wrong).

Hi @Orange: I just noticed I have the same stress crack from the window contacting the hinge. I am trying the same warranty route. Contacted Customer Care and Service. In Denver we do not have REAL service center, just a local certified repair shop, which rents space to two Lucid techs. Seems several on this forum have had the exact same glass shattering from the hinge placement.
