I saw that Road & Track published an article about the Gravity 3.3.1 update and at the end was this little bit about Halo Secure's Live View and Drive Recorder features:

Both of these features are still in beta testing, and Lucid says that after this year, the Live View feature will only be available through a subscription.

I don't remember seeing this listed anywhere and on the Lucid site it just lists Halo Secure as a feature. Did I miss somewhere that they said this would be a subscription?

The article specifically says the Live View will be subscription based, no storage used for that.

yup, only the live view. the subscription is only necessary for the ability to view live footage from your smartphone, like how tesla and rivian do with their premium connectivity subscriptions. the actual footage will still be saved to the USB drive in the vehicle without needing a subscription.

Which I get but I don't see any reference on the Lucid website that says this is an extra feature requiring a subscription. The features of the Gravity just list "Halo Secure" as being included with "Vehicle Safety Monitoring and event recording while driver is away"

By no means a deal breaker for me but it's a little annoying for them to list a feature with no caveats to only find out later you'll have to pay a subscription to use it. (the footnote 5 for features only talks about DreamDrive and the safety suite not being a replacement for drivers paying attention)

The email Lucid sent the other day about the update said to enjoy Live View for free until the end of the year…backwards way of saying “you’ll pay for it later”.

It also likely falls under footnote 3 on the “learn more” which reads “3. This feature is optional and not available as standard. Additionally, some entertainment or connected vehicle features require enhanced vehicle wireless connectivity and/or additional third-party subscriptions to operate.“

I guess, even though the only footnote on the Gravity page that is noted on Halo Secure is #9 which is "Halo Secure is designed to add another layer of protection to your vehicle, but it will not prevent all possible threats or security breaches."

That footnote #3 is listed for things like the stereo, ambient lighting, etc.

As someone who's been involved in quite a few websites over the years, including once being the website manager for a pretty large retailer, I find their website mediocre at best for being able to find information sometimes.

I agree re: the site. That said, while it’s not entirely clear on Halo, it’s “market” to charge for the feature if you look at Tesla and Rivian.
 
For MB EQS, it's a one-time charge of $200 to turn on the dashcam service. No subscription.

Yeah, but don’t they charge a fee for added acceleration? My point is, MB has other fees for other things.

I never got a solicitation from MB about this or other subscription option.
They probably already knew I'd not pony up :cool:

Well. I guess Lucid charging a monthly fee of (most likely) no more than $9-15 won’t be so terrible.

I’d be perturbed if they did a yearly subscription for speed increases in the Lucid. But a one time fee of $1-4k wouldn’t be too bad.

I’m sure they have a model running in the background. Based on trim levels and options.
