New Member Here - Question about Rear Seat/Floor Height in GT

Hello everyone. New here (about to order a fully loaded GT). I've read statements about the GT having less leg room in the back seat (knees and feet would be a couple of inches higher because of additional batteries). When I test drove one, the guide said that they obtain the additional range of the GT because of one layer of additional/stacked batteries only at the front row; thus, I would get a little less extended leg room in the front, perhaps noticeable when adjusting the driver seat. Can anyone clarify this? Lucid techs telling me they've never heard of the higher back seat floor.

The rear seat footwell area is higher for the GT than the Touring and Pure. The GT has battery modules in this area where the Pure and Touring do not. There is about a 3" difference in floor height between the trims. There is no difference in the front seat footwell areas between the trims.

The 3” is noticeable. In my case, the rear seat comfort was more important than range. If rear seat comfort is important to you, go to a showroom and compare the two.

We have had an AGT since11/22 and every single adult who has ever ridden in the back seat is amazed at how much room there is. I, personally, don’t feel that it is an issue at all. I would not make the swap between a few inches lower footwell and the range as not a single person in my car has ever thought anything but how much room is back there.

I too am a soon to be owner and just put a deposit down on a CPO ‘23 AGT. We sat in both back seats of the AT and the AGT back to back at the showroom to see if it bothered us. And we actually found the change in the angle of the AGT to be more comfortable that the AT version. And that was not what I was expecting. Just wanted to

This thread made me go out and sit in the back seat of my AGT for the first time to try out the seating position. It seems pretty normal to me. But I was completely surprised at how awesome it was back there. Soooooo roomy, and with the glass roof and cool lighting, it was just a spectacular experience. Well done Lucid!

Difference in footwell depth is 3.15", per Zak Edson, Lucid VP of Owner Experience and Product Attributes.

For me, range trumped any back seat comfort concerns, because in the two plus years I've had the car there's only been back seat passengers about ten times.

We have an Air Dream Edition with the higher rear floorboard. Many of our rear seat passengers, too, have commented on how astonishingly roomy the rear seat is, especially those who have ridden in our Model S Plaid. (When the driver seats in both cars are set to my preferred driving position, there is 9.5" more fore-aft room in the Air than in the Model S. The Air is in an entirely different league.) However, your knees are a bit jacked up when sitting in the Air rear seat -- moreso than in most ICE sedans but as is common with most EV sedans.

That said, there is a noticeable increase in comfort with the lower footwell of the Air's smaller battery pack. It takes the rear seat of the Lucid Air from being roomier in fore-aft stretch than any other EV sedan (and on a par with larger German luxury sedans) to being equal to the superb all-around comfort of a MB S Class or BMW 7 Series rear seat.

The way someone put it years ago stuck with me: take the floor of the Touring. Stand a credit card up long wise. Now put your foot on that credit card.

I have spent many hours riding in the back seat of my Air GT.

Yes there is lots of room, and if you haven't tinted the glass roof it's awesome to watch birds and clouds.

The location of the extra battery pack in the GT / DE causes back-seat passengers
to sit with your knees higher than "normal".
It's not a big problem but it does get uncomfortable on a long drive. Once you are aware of it you can't not think of it, so if you have a GT or DE do not read this.

It's also worth noting that the GT's rear seat bottoms are slightly more inclined to match, so you're not sitting with your knees waggling up in the air, they're still supported.

I concur....while theAGT has a 3" higher floor than the AT/Pure, the Air (all trims) have a lot of leg room (back seat to front seat) in the rear. As such, unless you are 6ft 6in and taller, you won't feel cramped.

True. I have sat in a GT for a while, and it was fine for me at 6’2”.

The few people I’ve heard complain were actually shorter people, because of the increased seat angle. I suppose I’m already used to all chairs leaving my knees higher than I’d like.
