Car won’t go into DRIVE !

Thank you so much for your response and open communication! Just wanted to confirm as others have said that this is not isolated to long charging sessions. This happens constantly for me when I'm not charging, like when I'm returning to the car in a parking lot and just trying to get home. I only charge once a week but this happens to me every day.

In the instances when it happens to you when NOT charging, has the car been sitting parked for a long time (for most of the day for example) ?

Thanks for asking; it doesn't seem to matter how long it's been parked. It'll happen 2/3 of the time in the morning when I enter the car, whether I wake i up and cool it remotely or not. But it'll also happen when I return to the car in a parking lot after eating lunch (so maybe parked 45 minutes) pretty consistently as well.

Would you mind DMing me your VIN?

Typical case when it happens to me almost every time: we drive to a park, walk for 50 minutes. Ten minutes before we are about to reach the car, I turn on the AC from my Apple Watch. When we get to the car, we have to wait for a while until it is ready to switch to drive.

Oh wow. Yeah that's bad. It only happens to me if the car has been sitting for an extended period of time. And that mostly is when its been charging

Mine will occur, without fail, after a charging session and 50%+ of the time otherwise. There seems to be no pattern to it if not recently charged.

This is exactly the same pattern I experience, and it seems to be getting worse. Closer to 60% now.

I have a ~4 week old 2025 Lucid Air Touring and experiencing the same issue - most mornings after unplugging, I get in and the seat moves into position but I am unable to shift into R or D. Screen appears frozen as some have commented. I get out, walk away and let it lock, then walk back and unlock and get in again and it works (?...). Look forward to any update to address this. I have not yet been to service.

Just got my Air Touring on Saturday and started seeing this today (Weds) after plugging in. I had the thought that it might be related to facial recognition, so I deleted my appearance profiles - will see if that has any effect and report back.

Yup I have to do the lock, stand out side and look stupid, and then get back in dance too.

If it is any help to Lucid i took a video of it when it happened on May 10 at 8:58pm ET. Let me know @marqie.

So not a conclusive answer (not enough testing time), but ever since I removed my facial recognition appearance profiles, I’ve had no problems with putting the car into Drive.

Oh, that's interesting! How do I do that? Can I remove facial recognition without removing my entire profile? I'd need a profile to save my settings (such as seat memory, etc) right?

Yeah go to Settings > Access & Profiles > Face Login and edit the list to remove all appearance profiles

I can debunk that one as I don't have facial recognition enabled in my profile.

Hi, everyone.

Due to a change in a recent software update, drivers may experience a delay when trying to shift out of Park immediately following some longer charging sessions. We are actively working on a fix to deploy in a future software update.
I appreciate the update!

Not to pile on, but I can also confirm that this is not only happening after charging sessions. I posted a detailed timeline with timestamped logs pulled from Lucid's API showing the power state sequence of events (https://lucidowners.com/threads/car-won’t-go-into-drive.12216/post-270428). The car was parked for only a few minutes when I experienced the delay. I'd had the vehicle at a few other stops throughout the day and had not charged since the previous day.

This issue is really getting annoying. Sure hope it’s not going to take as long as the soft door bug that’s still waiting for a fix from last year.
