Car won’t go into DRIVE !

I have an utterly base model — no bells and whistles basically.
Oh for me it’s only the speedometer display that’s frozen.
Good to know. So it seems like there still aren't any 2023 Pure AWDs on this forum that have the "won't shift into drive" issue. Anecdotally maybe it's affecting 2024 models the most (AT and Pure)?

This happened to me twice today. Once after a home charge session and the next time about 3 hours later after being parked. Both times I was quickly able to get the car into a ready state by going to the pilot screen and pressing “Openings > Lock vehicle button”

Yeah this just happened again for me. I pre-cooled the car via the app. Got to the car about 30 seconds later, the car actually unlocked just fine over mobile key, I get in and it starts the face recognition and is just frozen. Shifting out of part won’t work. It did go to my seat preset. Something with the speedo screen and “gear”. It was about a 30 second wait.

Hopefully they fix this soon because this is a potential safety issue if you can’t move your car.
How do you know when it’s doing face recognition?

That’s very interesting. I will try that work around with locking the vehicle.

Just chiming in that I had this very thing happen today - same deal, unplugged from charger, and then it wouldn't go into drive or reverse for about 10-20 seconds. Very odd.

So for me this situation happened twice but only after charging sessions. This past Saturday the issue persisted a few hours after the charging session since I drove it to a party right after unplugging it.

I am not upset because in all cases just waiting ~30 seconds or so seems to solve the issue. I normally only charge once a week so its not like the issues are daily for me either.

I am wondering how widespread the issue is. Seems like a lot of folks in this thread, but maybe only a small % of cars in the wild are being impacted?

This is a mess. After an overnight charge, my AT now takes nearly two full minutes to be ready to drive. Fun when timing is tight. Yesterday, parked at golf course for five hours. Went to leave and could not....meanwhile a car is waiting for me to back out to exit the parking spot. I had to get out and apologize and tell them I couldn't move the car. Later after dinner, after a period of sitting for less than two hours, valet couldn't move the car because the driver door would not stop signaling open and the car took another 45 seconds to get into drive.

Frustrating, embarrassing, and a safety concern.

Lucid service advisors acknowledged this is a widespread issue with no fix at this time.

I'm glad to hear someone else say minutes haha. Definitely a longer wait for me too, the others saying 10-20 seconds got it good!

Try this which worked for me both times this happened:

Has anybody been able to confirm that when you can't get in to drive going to the pilot screen and pressing “Openings > Lock vehicle button”, fixes it. ?

I tried that last time it happened to me and it was not effective, though ymmv.

I've had this issue ever since the 2.6.16 update, though I haven't noticed any correlation with recent charging. It's a matter of getting in the car, foot on the brake, shift to reverse or drive and....nothing. No acknowledgement that the shift lever has moved or anything. The key to overcoming it is usually waiting and dropping a few four-letter words (and their derivatives) about Lucid software quality (lack thereof)...then it'll fully wake up. Maybe there's a four-letter voice command that triggers it?

Hello everyone
My car in the last 3 days won’t go into DRIVE after it’s been charged and the cable is unplugged. It behaves like the charge cable is still plugged and the status wont change into READY position.
I have Lucid looking into it , but anyone with any experience on this issue please chime in.
Ps . I am on the latest 2.6.16 software version

Thanks in advance
Bobby
Has any piece of your charger cable (locking clip) broken off in the port?

I can confirm I've tried every four letter word and none seem to have an effect.

Re: the lock vehicle button fix, it worked once for me and then not again since.

I'm wondering if this goes away for a while after a soft reset? I haven't rebooted my car for a couple of months now, and initially, I didn't experience any of this with the 2.6.16 update. It would be no big deal (to me at least) if a soft reset made it go away for a while and then Lucid gets this fixed. The other thing I want to try is turning off the face recognition... has anyone done that, or is having this problem without that activated?

I too have had this frozen screen and not go into gear. I have only had for two weeks. This has happened 4-5 times so far. I have to get out and lock and then reenter and try again.Lucid Touring 2025

Unfortunately too many of us have the same issue after the latest update. It’s maddening that Lucid has not fixed it yet… 🙄🙄

Tried it this morning and it did not do anything. Was a solid 2-ish minutes of waiting so I had plenty of time to try. Might have been a coincidence on your end.

Ahh oh well. I haven’t had it happen yet again so have been unable to confirm. Hope this gets fixed with an OTA soon.

I have a 2023 Pure AWD and have the same problem since the update. After charging I have to do a soft reset to be able to get the car going.
