Car won’t go into DRIVE !

I did a test this evening. This always seems to be happening in the morning for me, which on a normal day is 1 of 4 trips to the car (to/from work, to/from lunch). Not really statistically significant but enough to guess. Its when the car has been plugged in overnight, but it's also the longest idle period. So this test tonight was trying to eliminate one of those variables.

The car was plugged in, but I've only been home for 2 hours. And sure enough it did the same exact thing when I unplugged it and got in. I also made sure to test the blinker before unplugging the car, and confirmed there was no chime (you can't see the blinking arrow when plugged in but you can hear it). So it's not the unplugging specifically causing it, maybe just sleeping while plugged in? That's just guesswork though.

TLDR: seeing as this hasn't happened during the day at all yet and my test eliminated idle time, I'm thinking it's probably related to the car being plugged in. Has anyone seen differently?

Well you got someone here in Dallas who has reported the loud, repetitive “clacks” at start up and my car is currently with Lucid service (Dallas services at Park Place in Fort Worth). “Clacks” happened 3 times after the most recent update (1st time after sitting parked for a few hours while shopping and 2nd and 3rd times immediately after unplugging from my LHCS). Also experienced the car not letting me shift into drive until after the “clacks” stop. Have all 3 times on video and provided to service. Was concerned with service being able to replicate it, but relieved to find out it did it’s “clacking” thing when working on other issues.
A bit off topic but am I reading this correct that Lucid has a physical place to service cars in the Dallas area? This is excellent news to me if true since I have a Gravity on order and have been a little worried that if my car has an issue it would have to be shipped to Houston for service.

Yes it’s happened to me once while not plugged in. Car had been sat at work all day.

Same here, this has happened several times to me in the parking lot when not plugged in. It just happened to me 2 days ago when I went back to my car after lunch, and it happened today after a doctor appointment. I don't believe this is related to being plugged in at all.

Yes they do. Just recently learned this as my car is in for service now. Lucid is contracted with Park Place in Fort Worth and two of the techs you may have met with mobile service work on the cars there. I think for body work cars have been going to Park Place Dallas. I’ve heard that the overall experience in Fort Worth is better for body work too because they are not as eager to overbill just because it’s a Lucid. Also, when service loaners aren’t available, it is possible to rent a Lucid from North Dallas Exotics on Plano Pkwy.

It’s random , maybe slightly more after un plugged but not really … my car doesn’t go to drive about 50% of the time …

First time it happened for me was after sitting 2 hours in a parking lot in the afternoon. Second and third time was after unplugging in my garage in the late afternoon/early evening.

Correction, see that you have a Gravity on order, so wouldn’t have met the techs yet.
It's cool...though I am hoping to NOT know them by name once I get my Dream Edition! 😅 Thanks for letting me know about Park Place in FW!

My understanding is that they take the car to Park Place at FW for any work that requires the vehicle to be on a lift. They rent some bays there. However, this is not a service center, and the car needs to go to Houston for more complex work. The long-awaited Lucid service center is still pending—no end in sight after the downtown place they were setting up failed inspection. The DFW area has the highest number of Lucids in Texas, and I hope they figure this out soon or later.

This has happened to me 6-7 times now. I fix it with the air logo reboot. I recorded a video of it even.

Happens for me irrespective of if I have charged recently or not.

I was wondering what happened to the place I vaguely remember reading about a while back that was downtown near the medical center area. I guess that explains why it never materialized. I agree, they definitely need one in the DFW area ASAP.

First of all, it's truly unfortunate that this is happening for so many fellow owners. I hope that this issue is resolved for you as soon as possible.

Second, @dingo, I believe yours is the first 2023 Pure AWD on this forum that seems to have this issue (I have the same trim and have never seen this issue). Can you share the options your car has, e.g., do you have DDP or DD, SSP or SS, roof, wheels (although the last two shouldn't really matter)? I have DD, SSP, metal roof, 20" wheels.

Happened to me 3 times today. Once after charging and twice after being parked for an hour or so. Can't do a logo reset (cockpit screen problem), so I jest wait out. Takes a minute or wom but feels like an hour.

Oh for me it’s only the speedometer display that’s frozen.

Yeah this just happened again for me. I pre-cooled the car via the app. Got to the car about 30 seconds later, the car actually unlocked just fine over mobile key, I get in and it starts the face recognition and is just frozen. Shifting out of part won’t work. It did go to my seat preset. Something with the speedo screen and “gear”. It was about a 30 second wait.

Hopefully they fix this soon because this is a potential safety issue if you can’t move your car.

I have a 2024 Air Pure RWD. I have the latest firmware. So far it has not happened to me but I don’t drive much and charge at home twice a month

This did start happening after I received a “Rear emergency Breaking Unavailable” warning the day after upgrading. I rebooted a couple of times to clear it and the next morning got this. Anybody else get the emergency break warning as well?
Exact same thing happened to me. I took a video but i cannot upload it because the file is too large.

I have an utterly base model — no bells and whistles basically.
