Currently Lucid Navigation provides real time charger availability for EA, EVConnect and a few other networks that share real time availability with Here Maps. I asked Lucid why EVGo data was missing and was told that EVGo is not willing to share their real time availability with Here so we do not get that information in Lucid Navigation. Lucid suggested that we contact EVGo and let them know that Lucid owners would be more likely to use EVGO if we had real time data within Lucid Navigation. With the expansion of the FlyingJ EVGo chargers along interstates, EVGo is becoming a viable network for roadtrips.

If you would like to see EVGo real time data in Lucid navigation, please email EVGo and ask for it. Here is a good contact email: [email protected]

Generic response:

Dear Neil,

Thank you for contacting EVgo.

We appreciate your feedback and have forwarded it to the appropriate team. If you need further assistance or have any questions, please feel free to respond to this email.

Brian / Customer Operations Specialist

Does EVGo work with Lucid's promotion free charging period due to Electricity America's partnership with EVGo?

GM has a deal with EVGo.. lucid does not at this time.

Currently, what's a good Apple app for real-time EV charger availability?
Thanks.

Do these other charging places have lucid compatible charging cables? I have never attempted to find a Charging place and only have 2 horrible experiences at EA at a Walmart.

Good thing I don’t drive long distances but was thinking of making a trip from Dallas to Austin.

What type of horrible experience did you have? Lately EA seems to be doing better and other than crowds, it has been a go. All the charging centers should be good for Lucid except Tesla. I’d say just go on your trip and you will learn the ropes.

Two days after taking delivery, having never owned or charged an EV, without an accessible outlet at home, I drove my 23 Pure AWD to Vermont to go skiing (one way 270 miles with 1500 foot elevation gain) while it was 20F. Stopped at an EA 30 miles in to see how it charged and stopped again (last EA before destination) 150 miles in.

As long as you plot a couple of charging spots you'll be fine.

Since then a RAN and ChargePoint have been added along the route giving options.

Texas does not have as many charging stations but that may have changed.

My experience was at a Walmart in Denton Texas that has 5 charging stations. I tried it in 2022 and the stations were very old. They are situated at a diagonal angle and thus it is extremely hard to get the charge port close to the port without scratching the front of the car. I was able to charge once and I could not do it the second time because all the spaces were occupied. All the cars being charged were not Lucid. The charging cable length there is really small. Even the first time I was barely able to put the cable in.

Looks like they may have upgraded to several 350’s. Plug share gives it a 10 but it still looks like goofy parking and gets a lot of activity. Depending on how I go to Dallas in the fall, I might get to sample that one. According to EA website there are a few along the interstates. Better than when I looked a yr ago. Good luck.

I understand that the first time charging can often anxiety provoking and result in a less than satisfying experience. Because charging ports for different brands of EVs can be located in the front or rear, left or right, (unlike Tesla) early charging stations with short cords often had wonky parking situations and you are not able to charge at every station. At an old EA in a BofA lot, I can only charge at 2 of the 4 spots. You just have to remember which spots when charging there. Newer stations have longer cords and you usually don't have to worry about it.
As far as all chargers being occupied, that is not uncommon; many stations can be busy while others are not. If you use your navigate app to chose a charging station, it will show how many chargers are occupied at that station - as well as start precondtioning when you choose a station.

Use PlugShare to prepare for a road trip and checkout some of the alternative options available. On the networks filter, the three biggies are ae, EVgo, and ChargePoint, but I’ve had good experience with red-e and ev connect as well. Play around with the options along ur route and try a few, if there have been checkins at the station within a few days, pretty good indicator that the plugs will work

Went up to Killington over the Solstice holiday but my car was in shop so had to take wife's Mazda, which is pretty horrible in the snow. But I did scan the area for EV chargers.
Where did you go in Vermont and what chargers did you find there / use ? I think there is one in Rutland but did not go to see it. We went up the NY state thruway to Albany, where there are EV chargers, then crossed over at Troy. I would expect a few chargers in Rutland / Killington for the visitors. I forgot how much colder VT is than Philly. Burrrr. Did you get good snow?
It's it wonderful to have such range.
You are bold to take your first EV experience into the most punishing environment. I am jealous. I hope my car is finished soon so I can take my GT up to VT this winter. (my son is a patroller at Killington == hope you never have to meet him but if you do tell him dad says hi).

I'm at Mad River Glen. I charge at Walmart Albany, RAN Queensbury, Garvey VW EA Glens Falls. None of these work if you are going East through Troy. They will work if you travel through Lake George and use 149 to reach Route 4 to Killington.

At Pico I have used their free L2 chargers (get there early) they are 80 amp and have several NACS and several J1772. These are at the front of the parking lot near the solar panels.

Manchester Center has a ViaLink (150kW). I have not used this one but do use a ViaLink in Waitsfield (180 kW) their software is kind of funky but I've connected without assistance.

Typically I hit the Albany station. That gets me to MRG. I L1 charge for the weekend. My lodging is walk to the lift so I can get 44 hours or more. This usually gets me enough to get back to Albany. If not I hit the VW EA or get a hit in Waitsfield. Waitsfield has the ViaLink, a slower 50kW ChargePoint in town, free charging at Mount Ellen, Tesla destination (they have J1772) at Sugarbush.

Have also used the free L2 at Jay.
