Referral Code

I have been provided with a referral code. I have clicked on the link that an owner kindly provided to me and when I do, I get a message saying that "Referral offer not available outside of the United States or to residents of Ohio and Virginia". I am a resident of Virginia and was wondering why the referral code is not available to Virginia residents? Thank you for any light you may be able to shed on the matter.

From the website:

"* This Program is void in states and territories where referral benefits are prohibited by law, including Ohio and Virginia. Residents of such states or territories are not eligible to participate in the Program."

Maybe if you can talk to a salesperson to see if there's an alternative.
