I just swapped into my winter "improved mi/kWh" range tires that I ordered for my GT.
...I miss the sport of driving...taking a corner a bit too fast and such like, that I had with the 21" OEM summer tires.
I bought this set because the GT owner's manual said I needed them to drive in "Sprint" mode.
I drive mostly in the right lane now (it is cold in the NE USA).
Been seeing a few posts about tires and options for tires/wheels so want to offer my opinions, because I am bored about all the discussion here of things that are silly and not about cars = "my doors don't open.." "my bass is not disco"... "I need to play with my phone so where is my Driverless Asshole mode? ".
The torque/speed limits on various models are about the capability of the tires. As far as I know the motors are capable of more hp and torque = top speed, but the configured tires are not. That is why the software limits the motors in the various models. The Sapphire wheels/tires/brakes/suspension/software are so engineered that they can deal with what the car delivers...barely.
I run the Lucid OEM 21" Peirelli summer tires and wheels when temps. are reliably above 40 degrees F and take them off when it's cold. I miss them. It's shocking the difference when you change them out. But posters here think they know better than Lucid?
When I was younger I fooled around with cars, modifying the engine to improve flow and response, replacing bushings and bars to corner harder, going with wider and softer rubber... I even discovered "un-sprung weight" (amazed that you could actually feel the handling difference of forged wheels and floating carbon rotors...on a "family" wagon ... even with all-season tires ?!
Disappointed am I to read posts about wheel/tire choices that are not Lucid engineer approved. If you intend to drive at the limit, choose the tires/wheels Lucid engineers designed to work with the suspension geometry of the model you have. Otherwise, you just look silly...waiting for the tow truck.
It's a dis against Lucid engineering. Have some respect for them, and for yourselves.
