Hello! I’ve been trying to get a quite annoying woofer buzz that primarily comes from the driver side woofer fixed. So far the woofer has been replaced twice - once by the Houston service center and a second time by remote technicians. The car was returned to me both times with it still sounding the same and during this last visit I was told “The new speaker we installed sounds a lot better. Of course with the songs you sent, the very low bass still seems to struggle and there's not much we can do at that point.” The problem is the woofer buzzes on any song that has bass - not just the ones I sent, and it still sounds just as terrible as it did before the appointment.

Here’s a Google drive link to the video I captured

The song played in the video is “uptome by Clear Eyes” and my bass is only up a few notches from 0 (although it still buzzes when set to 0). Could someone else confirm that this is in fact a limitation of the SSP system? I’m struggling to believe that this is how it’s supposed to be.

They need to test the amplifier further... that sounds like a blown speaker but hard to diagnose just from the video. So... it could be that channel keeps overloading and blowing out the replacement or the DSP (Digital signal processor) is really off. Or a crossover? But I believe all crossover work is done internally by the end I don't know that for certain

Yeah I’m not sure what to tell service anymore, it’s definitely a mind scratcher. I don’t think service wants to dive into it any further considering they replaced the sub twice. I mean I was literally told “I hope you like it!” after getting my car back… then recorded the video I attached earlier. How is anyone supposed to like the sound of that 🤦‍♂️

I take it your driver side SSP woofer doesn’t sound like mine?

No that is not correct operation. It mechanically sounds off too but hard to tell. It sounds blown. Did they indicate the first speaker replaced was damaged.

They did not say if the first speaker replaced was damaged - just that the left side "sounded poorly". I shared my feedback with them so now I guess I'll have to wait and see what my options are from here. Was hoping someone else might've had the same problem and had a solution applied by their service center (that's different than throwing a new speaker on and calling it a day)

Have they determined the issue?

On March 3rd the remote tech told me my feedback has been brought up with management and that they'll "let me know soon", so unfortunately no 😢 it's most likely going to be dismissed like my clunky front driver side strut.

They'll probably get their car back with 6k miles on it once my 18 month lease is up this coming October. Beautiful car but so infuriating to drive.

Sorry to hear your experience has been this way. What's up with the stut? Movement?

All good, it is what it is I suppose.

The strut has a faint continuous clunk when driving through parking lots with uneven surfaces (at slow speeds), louder sudden clunks when going over sudden bumps in the road (such as bridge bridge joints), and the steering feels loose at higher speeds along with a constant pulsing in the steering wheel and body of the car. I’m constantly having to make steering corrections to track straight so perhaps there’s movement in the strut 🤔 I’ve had an alignment done as well as rotation and balance so not sure what’s going on there.

Also want to note, I’ve requested for someone from lucid to reach out to me on my last two service surveys and I’ve heard nothing. I don’t know how service can repeatedly drop the ball and be silent.

I’ve said it on a different thread and I’ll say it again, there sure seems to be a lot of compromises that need to be made when leasing a lucid. “Compromise nothing” is truly an awful slogan for the brand at this point in time.

The experience is inconsistent. Personally I have had no issue but I know several, in detail, that have had some frustrating ones. When it's all working as expected the vehicle is quite remarkable.

It’s definitely inconsistent considering how many happy owners are on here plus the extremely positive reviews by automotive journalists.

I just really feel like I’m missing out. I want to stick with the brand so bad once my lease is up because every other EV sedan looks bland to me but I’m terrified I’ll have a similar service experience with the next one - should any issues arise.

I experience some buzzing too, but only a select songs. It must be something to do with the speaker design. Does the same buzzing happen for you when playing “Waiting for Love” by Avicii?

Hope they can fix this!

I was sideswiped this past week so I’ll have to check when my car gets back from the body shop.

That being said almost any song with low frequency bass buzzes - but just from the left woofer. Lucid seems to think it’s normal so I wouldn’t get your hopes up on them fixing it.

The first track I played in my SSP vehicle sounded like I had blown speakers. It was a song from the Superman soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. I had another version of the same song, just recorded by a different orchestra, and there was no problem. Some tracks sound like crap in any system. They all have their weaknesses, and frequencies where something rattles. essentially you have to avoid those songs, and/or move your balance towards the back of the vehicle to lessen the strain in the mid bass drivers and put it more on the back deck woofer.

I reached out to my local service center last week to get my sound system (non-pro) inspected for similar problem, bass rattle on certain songs. The remote tech took 30 minutes to confirm and told me replacement hardware is on backorder. He speculated this part is in high demand for replacement. The sound system is just so underwhelming in this car, compounded by these QA problems. I so strongly miss the magnificent harman/kardon system in my old Polestar.

I really miss the Burmester in my EQS…SSP is by far the worst system I’ve had in a car. Hopefully they can get your non-pro system fixed up. I’ve given up on hounding service to getting mine fixed - sick and tired of anything Lucid service related honestly.

My partner is also sick and tired of listening to my complaining 🤣
