Reporting back from our aborted SoCal to Sacramento run. Made it as far as Harris Ranch on the 5 and we had had to turn around and come back home due to the dog having issues. 600 miles in one day, do not recommend.
Gravity drove beautifully though. What would have easily been 3-4 charging stops in the Tesla was 1 with the Gravity. I was seriously impressed. Very solid and comfortable cruising at 70 averaging around 3.2 m/kw.
A couple charging things I noticed:
I arrived to the EA 350kw chargers excited to get serious charging speeds vs what I was used to in my Tesla and pulled 172kw max. Got the ācharging speed limited by stationā alert or whatever it said. Is this common on other branded chargers? Iāve only ever used Tesla SC.
I also noticed when I selected āLucid Networkā to filter chargers in the NAV, it removed nearly all the SC options. When I toggled that off, they all returned. Had me convinced none of the Tesla SCās on the 5 were compatible with the Gravity and I knew that couldnāt be right. Seems odd that it would do that when they all were V3/V4 plug and pay for the Lucid.
Built in Nav. Hit and miss for sure. I ended up double checking what it was suggesting with Apple/Google as several times its routing seemed odd. We hit lots of traffic and it was suggesting some alternate routes Apple/Google did not. May have been an energy saving suggestion. I do have my Google Maps set up though for EV with my vehicle info input so it should take that into account when recommending most efficient route.
DD Premium was solid. No phantom braking like in the Tesla. Will definitely opt for Pro in the next one now that it seems like a legit offering with 3.6.0
The advanced battery preconditioning was a nice feature. I could see how you could use Google/Apple Maps in CP/AA and then manage pre conditioning without the built in nav if you wanted to for DC charging stops.
We may attempt a new trip taking the dog with us as we still have 3 more days off.
Had a grey Air pass me in the Grapevine NB, that one of you?
