Right now on software version 3.5.1, Lucid owners are actually using **Creature Comfort Mode** (their version of Pet Mode) as a makeshift camp mode when sleeping in the vehicle. It works because it bypasses the 45-minute climate timer found in standard "Keep Mode" and will run continuously.
However, they are designed for two completely different scenarios. When Lucid releases a dedicated, standalone **Camp Mode** for the Gravity, here is what will be different compared to the current Pet Mode:
1. Screen Behavior (The Biggest Difference)
Creature Comfort (Pet) Mode:** This mode turns the massive glass cockpit display into a giant billboard that reads: *"Creature Comfort Mode On: My Person will be back soon,"* alongside a large live temperature readout. It is intentionally bright and noticeable so passersby know your dogs are safe.
Camp Mode:** When you are sleeping inside the car, you want the cabin pitch black. Camp Mode will allow you to completely **black out all internal screens** so you don't have a giant screen illuminating the whole cabin while you try to sleep.
2. Vehicle Protection vs. Camper Freedom
Creature Comfort (Pet) Mode:** For safety, this mode **completely disables the power windows, accelerator, and brake pedals**. This is so your dogs don't accidentally step on a window switch or shift the car into gear while you step away. It also automatically shuts off the second you open the driver’s door to welcome you back.
Camp Mode:** It keeps the vehicle entirely customizable while you are inside. You can open and close the doors, roll windows up or down for airflow, or open the rear liftgate without the entire system shutting down or resetting.
3. Power Outlets and USB Ports
Creature Comfort (Pet) Mode:** Cuts power to non-essential accessories once the car is locked up to maximize the main battery for climate control.
Camp Mode:** Keeps the vehicle's internal 120V residential wall outlets and USB-C ports **fully active all night** so you can charge your phones, run laptops, or plug in camping accessories and portable fridges while you sleep.
4. Vehicle Security & Proximity Sensors
Creature Comfort (Pet) Mode:** Armors the car like a standard locked vehicle.
Camp Mode:** Typically silences external alarm motion sensors, panic chimes, and courtesy lights so that moving around inside the mattress setup doesn't accidentally trigger the car alarm or flash your headlights at your neighbors at 3:00 AM.
5. Battery Shutdown Thresholds
Creature Comfort (Pet) Mode:** Lucid has a hyper-aggressive pet safety protocol—it will keep running and protecting your animals until the main battery drops all the way down to 1% remaining**.
Camp Mode:** Will likely feature a user-adjustable battery limit (for example, stopping the climate control if the battery drops below 15% or 20%) to guarantee you still have plenty of range left to drive away from a remote campsite in the morning.
I have also heard anecdotally from other owners and enthusiasts that there may be a self leveling type feature akin to the R1S if you have the DHP with triple air bags.
