Paint chipping and rust... But how?

I just washed the car for the first time and noticed all these brownish spots all over the car. It looks like the paint is chipping all over the place and there's rust underneath. I have no idea how that would be possible considering the body is aluminium. After drying the car it looks like the clear coat is etched really bad on top of it. The rusty spots rub off but there is bare metal underneath. Really disapointed considering the car only 860 miles on it and the paint looks terrible! Not really sure what to do. I'm assuming I should reach out to Lucid to see what my options are.

Alternatively, I could clay the car and cut/polish. It's just crazy that its this bad with less than 1,000 miles on it.

I've got two other cars that both have aluminium bodies, Porsche Taycan and Jeep Wrangler 4xe, and neither of them have this issue.

After fully drying the car I found similar spots on the glass roof. So this is clearly environmental. With a clay bar I was able to get the spots off the glass, but it's proving to be more difficult on the paint.

It for sure happened when I was parked, as there the same spots on the mirror arms that you can see when the mirrors are folded in. It's mainly focused on the passenger side of the car. From what I can tell it is small metal particles. I did do a bunch of metal work and welding on my 74 BMW 2002, but that was over the summer well before I got the Lucid. The only thing I can think happened is I powerwashed my driveway recently where I had worked on the BMW and maybe a bit of spray with metal flakes splashed into the air onto the Air. Looks like I'm doing a full cut/polish and then an immediate ceramic coat.

What'd you wash it with acid or something? In all seriousness, nothing remotely normal about that.

Iron particles can get embedded onto the paint and cause rust. External source. Maybe the powerwashind did contribute. Get a iron cleaner and spray all over your car's paint and wash it off. Should do the trick.

Fixed! Wash>Adams iron remover>clay>polish>finishing pass>IPA wipe>Adams advanced ceramic coating. This is the first car I’ve ever ceramic coated. It was quite the process but he level of gloss and depth after the coating was fairly surprising (which isn’t done justice in photos). I had half a bottle of the coating left and tossed it into the box when I was done. The damn bottom of the box fell out and purple crap went all over my driveway. Also, it was a true joy to wake up in the morning to find a bunch of birch leaves and weird other tree stuff all over the car in the morning.

Powerwashing your driveway probably sprayed old particles from your welding against your Lucid and created those rust points, nothing to do with the Lucid. Aluminum effectively doesn't rust. You could chemically oxidize it but it would not look like rust and you wont get this unless you use pretty powerful chemicals on purpose
