There is so much cool stuff happening in battery development. Dielectric materials, support components, charging algorithms, manufacturing infrastructure... There are quickly going to be a lot of incremental improvements (and a small handful of step functions) that get us to 100kWh+ batteries that weigh 500lbs, cost <$3000 to manufacture, charge to 100% in 10 minutes or less, and last until the wheels fall off the car.
