I traded in my Mustang Mach E for a 2023 Lucid Air Touring - and (among others), my biggest reason was the range - my new granddaughter lives in Columbus, Ohio, a 431 mile trip from our home in southeastern PA. The Mach E was 2+ charges at a lower rate, so.... My goal was a 1-stop charge.
Last weekend - game on!
Spoiler: I made it (without too much worry) on one charge and was so impressed by the charging speed/rate.
I charged to 100% at home and my only charge on the way was off I-70 in Smithton, PA at an EVgo charging station. Charged back up to 85% and made it to Columbus with >15%. The only negative was that the charging station was at a Flying J travel plaza and the food options did not meet my wife's palate.
As my first long trip, I probably worried too much and kept the speed lower than I could have (@72mph in 70mph zones).
On the way home, I opted for two shorter stops, and took advantage of the Lucid-Electrify America partnership. How incredibly easy and awesome! Pulled up, plugged in and charged! And I drove faster.
First charge was off I-70 at a Wal-Mart in Cambridge, OH - 23 minutes and on my way. 2nd stop was at a Sheetz (happy wife!) off the PA Turnpike in Bedford, PA - 37 minutes (lunch!) and on to home.
I was SO impressed by the charging speed of the Lucid vs. the Mach E. I did 2 stops with the Lucid, in about the same time as 1 stop with the Mach E.
And my efficiency for the trip was >3.84 kw/h.
Bonus: my wife drove a good part of the way home - using hands-free DreamDrive - and loved it. And the seats/ride are so much more comfort for a long trip.
Bottom line: I am so happy with my Lucid purchase - I love this car.
Mission: Accomplished.
