Has anyone had issues with EZPass scanning at toll booths in their Lucid Air?

Transponder was placed on the windshield behind the drivers visor in my 2024 lucid air. That way you only see the EZPass device if you fold open the visor. No issues back then.

However in my 2026 lucid air, seems like the same transponder, in the same place is failing to read at toll booths. I tested the device in another car and have no issues. So it seems to be specifically not reading in my new car.

Since I'm registered on the EZPass website, its reading my license plate to charge tolls, but not through transponder

Thanks

No. No issues with either. They both work as intended.

Mine works fine too. I have it placed just below/behind the mirror.

I've got my TollTag just to the right of the rearview mirror pod (whatever it's called) and it works with no issues in my 2025.

See below for Mr Knewman's explanation. :)

There's a specific place on the windshield where transponders are supposed to be placed to allow RF through. If you look very closely to the right of the center console you can see that the glass looks a bit different, there's a pattern embedded in the glass. I'm guessing it's a hole in whatever protection coating they use in the glass that blocks RF.

I guess it's something that 2025+ have. It's been discussed here before and people with earlier model years have confirmed they don't have this.

*edit: ope drb beat me to it :D

Thank you. I'll reposition the transponder and report back

Just taking a wild guess, but I don't really think you have the limited production Air Dream Edition serial 001, but who knows; I am often wrong.

Haha. Just a 2026 Lucid Air GT

This means you own the limited production Air Dream Edition Number 001, so maybe delete this.

Unfortunately no luck with successful tag reads on any of these locations on the NJ Turnpike toll booths🥺

Actually valuable info for future readers; thanks for posting and keep looking for a solution.

Does your owners manual say where to put the transponder?

Don’t guess at the location. Look for the special area without the metallic coating (dots or clear area). I’ve seen posts for various model years that show either to the right of the rear view mirror or near the passenger side dash. The location is hard to see but it will be visible if you look hard enough and at the right angle. Using a flashlight in a subdued lighting may help.

Since the very beginning of the Dream Edition Airs, the front windshield production has changed several times to allow for EZPass transmission. Mine has this "cut-out" as well.

Wanted to close this thread. Finally found the correct location and I have a successful transponder read. This is in my 2026, but I guess approach is the same for others.
Look for a slightly different color (rectangle slot) to place the reader. On 2026s, it's on the passenger side. Pics attached. Sorry for the reflections.

Having the transponder placed incorrectly (but where the Lucid delivery team told me to put it--this is a Gravity GT but I hadn't yet added the car to my EZPass account) cost me about $100 in "extra charges" when my first use of the EZPass was a long trip. Some were reduced but most were not. Now place correctly and also on my EZPass account. That little "RF Opening" is very important.
