Lucid Touring
I just signed the paperwork for a Lucid Air Touring. I had considered the BMW i4 but the Lucid was so much more car for about the same money on a three year lease, so easy decision. I am perplexed as to why I need to wait at least a week before I can drive to the dealer that has the car I want on the lot. Is this typical? I’m concerned that something “happened” to the car and they need a week to fix it. I would have expected to have picked the car up 24-48 hours after lease approval, not a week plus. I’m really looking forward to the car. Stepping out of my Tesla- also a fine car but less luxurious, less range , and “you know…” I have charged my Tesla on 120V but I suspect it’s time to upgrade to 240. Mostly I drive 10-15 miles a day and low charge rates are fine and on really long trips, (every month or two) the superchargers do the trick and a few days to get back to full charge after I return. I understand 240 is more efficient, so that might be a deciding factor but if I do the math it will take a couple hundred thousand miles to pay back the installation cost.

If you live ion a hot climate, the 120V charging will not work well due to the power used to cool the batteries during charging. In hot weather, the charge rate would be near zero. I think you will be much happier to spend the money on a 240V level 2 setup.

I think I used my home A/C once this summer.(Mill Valley, Ca-ocean breezes most days) Still I think I will get a 240 system installed.

Fret not about the week delay. They are doing last minute quality assurance checks.

They must have a few other deliveries, better to do it right than dump it on the customer. I remember our Model 3 delivery- there is your car, read the manual, bye!
