Hold mode - brake pedal kick

Having never had an automatic I leave on roll seems much easier than dealing with brake coming on and off.

I tried roll, but I didn't like that it would roll back on inclines

Yes, I've been having the same annoying issue. Doesn't seem to matter whether I have it set to HOLD, or CREEP... backing out of a parking space, accelerating a bit at a time as I watch for cross traffic, it jerks and chugs in and out of a stop. Likewise, when at a complete stop when I start to accelerate, it kind of jerks out of a stuck feeling. (Haven't noticed whether or not the brake pedal moves.) And yes, I had a Tesla Model 3 which was smooth and silk in these same maneuvers. I was told this is not normal and can be adjusted somehow. I have an order in for mobile service to come out and test drive it.

That definitely sounds exactly like my issue. Curious who told you it could be adjusted? Lucid service? I’d also love to hear what they tell you after they test drive it, as then that may be my next step. Thanks!

Just wanted to update this thread on what I found out after bringing my 2025 AT to service. Went for a drive with the tech and he told me it’s normal for this amount of “brake kick” as the car approaches 0mph on HOLD, and the squeak/kick when accelerating from a stop. The 2026 Air I got as a rental has the same amount of kick, even though it’s lighter (RWD).

So unfortunately, it seems this is just the way it is. I measured the difference between my AT and my 2018 Tesla model 3 dual motor using this accelerometer app “phyphox”, and it is a drastic difference between them (roughly about 3-4x higher acceleration spike on the AT). This tracks with how it feels, and the Model S felt about the same as my model 3, so I don’t think it has to do with weight.
