I was out in LA over the holidays and test drove a Gravity and, well...my iX lease is up in a year, so I'm seriously considering a fully loaded Touring or GT.

I DO have a question (and this might not be the proper part of the forum). The nearest service centers are about 250 miles away (Atlanta & Orlando). Has anyone had experience with those kinds of distances, and what's it been like?
 
I think the answers will be very personal depending on your level of risk tolerance and previous experiences, both with SCs and Mobile Service. I personally would not own one without being close to an SC, but YMMV of course.
 
I have a 2023 Air and 2026 Gravity. I live 400 and 250 miles between two SCs on the east coast. I am also 2-3 hours away from Mobile Service techs. My experience with the Mobile Techs has been excellent. They have been responsive and capable of fixing minor items and completing annual services in my garage The every two year service had to be done at an SC and required driving the car to the nearest SC. We were able to tie this trip with a scheduled demo drive of the Gravity. In the future, we will likely tie drives for the every two year service with a fun road trip. We have had one instance for each car, so far, that required Lucid to trailer them to the SC. A loaner or rental car was provided until the car was returned. With 26k miles on the Air, it has only been to the SC for initial due bill items and the every two year service. Other than that, we have had Mobile Techs out maybe 3 times including a hardware upgrade. Minor fit and finish issues aside, not much has gone wrong that could not be addressed by software updates and Mobile Tech visits. Hope this helps.

If you do get a Gravity I would highly recommend you test out the most common hardware service issues before driving home

1) Center console that doesnt charge the phone or read the key card properly, you'll need to wait 2 minutes after using the key card (if not working it needs replacing)
2) Wheel assembly where the Dream Dream doesn't work often you don't see the steering wheel icon indicating you can engage the DD- (the whole steering wheel assembly needs replacing)
3) Frunk takes 2-3 button presses to work (easy adjustment)
4) software steps weren't properly taken at inspection- 2 common ones homelink not being downloaded or inability to utilize a profile - 2nd part is evident at delivery so maybe ask if you can test the home link at the service center with their door
 
That is my nearest SC and it is 200 miles away from me. Tho the crew there is OUTSTANDING in their professionalism and desire to support, they are COMPLETELY overwhelmed. Their mobile tech is 3 weeks out for mobile service and bringing the car in to them was an absolute nightmare for me. They don't have a dedicated tow service, so they contract out. It can take days to a week before they get a tow scheduled. Also, like other SCs I'm sure, they are still very much learning Gravity and its quirks and repairs, so it can take a little while to get things done properly. Like I said, their people are great, but Lucid as a whole is kinda leaving them hanging in the wind at that SC. They need more people, more support and as of now, no Gravity loaners and very few Air loaners, which makes getting one very difficult, but if you live more than 100 miles, they wont give you one anyway. They give you a rental at nearest Enterprise. They can make exceptions and try hard to work with you, but Lucid has hamstrung them. I personally cannot recommend getting a Lucid right now if this is your primary shop. I hope that they improve in a few months and open up more SCs to take the load off them bc they support entirely too huge a geographic area...
 
That's about the same as me, they just ship the car and rent you a car, or, send a guy with an Air. Total non issue.

I'm in Augusta area and the nearest service center is in Atlanta. At times you get frustrated with small things that could be fixed via a quick stop at the dealership. Mobile services are scheduled at least a week out from Atlanta and does not always fix the issue. If the car needs to be brought in, they reserve a rental for you thru enterprise. I have experienced transporter delays to and from the service center depending on their availability, recently it sat for 2weeks at SC (can't blame Lucid, transporters are local companies). You will have the rental for the duration but you will miss your Lucid. I have Air for about 17months; 2 times transported to the service center (one for annual service and other for the brake service). I had 3 mobile visits; 2 of them were for the brake issue (that eventually got fixed at the service center).
It all boil downs to your tolerance to such things.
 
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! My BMW lease ends in about a year, so there’s plenty of time for Lucid to iron out quirks in the Gravity, and maybe improve/expand their service. It’d be nice if they opened a facility in Hilton Head 😎

I am going to Philly in late December for a wedding, so I’d probably pick up the Gravity there, and road trip it home. A buddy in LA says he’ll fly out and do the trip with me. And probably hog all the driving 🤬
