I did a search on the forum. No one has seemed to have the following issue:

Above the front passenger headlight, the trim worked loose/pulled loose by technicians (in an attempt to fix). I am not sure of the root cause. Hood caught the piece of trim when opening. Plastic latch behind the trim is broken and fell off on inspection. Paint damage to the hood at the corner where it was/has caught... See pictures below.

Posting to try to pin down root cause while I wait to schedule service and hear their input.

Car has to replace that entire front piece of trim because of the broken clip. Body shop will be required too. It'll be a long tow to Atlanta and back for the work.

If anyone else notices trim not fully flush in the front, there is a likelihood the corner of the hood is snagging and pulling it on open.

I have a similar issue. Edge of the hood caught under the plastic trim. This yanked the inner clip out of its position and snapped on auto close.

You can continue to use the frunk, but you'll have to hold the edge to prevent further paint damage to the hood until replacement.

Any luck on getting yours fixed?
Service came to fix it and ended up breaking a part on the replacement. They had to replace the whole light panel. So now functional frunk but scheduled for a re-repair.

Finally got the car back. Towing company damaged the car, so it has to go back once they order a front bumper. Sounds like we ended up in the same boat.

This thread can be marked resolved as the original issue was fixed.

I have a similar issue. The frunk caught on the front trim piece when it opened. broke the clips holding trim in place. I called service and they tell me that I need to bring it in - a three hour drive.
I was under the impression that they would send out a mobile repair unit to fix this type of item.

Any comments or suggestions as to how to get them to come to me rather than driving to them?

Thanks

It is not an easy fix. I would take it in. They had to fix mine 3 times. Unsure how to get them to come out. I’m 5 hours out so had mobile service.

They confirm that it could take a while and after a bit a haggling they agreed that someone would drive a loaner up to me and drive mine down to the service center. When fixed - they will drive it back up. I'm ok with that. We will see when it happens

This just happened to me in the same exact spot. Sigh....
