Actually it was user error from a mobile device which caused me to reply to both your post and another. I was not even aware of the process to become verified. I have just submitted the info to the site admins so hopefully I will have the purple banner under my name soon.

I had not thought to contact the NHTSA so that is a good suggestion.

I have three emails that I use. For forums like this I don't use the same email that my friends know.

That keeps clearer separation and makes it harder for the companies that track people on Internet to figure out ALL that I do.

Oh, boy. Here we go again. I'm not saying that the OP is not telling the truth, but why can't we limit the creation of posts to verified owners?

Bear in mind that non owners can research every answer under the sun with simple searches.

Becoming verified is an extra step requiring a decent amount of personal time to gather the material, requires submitting additional personal information, and takes time by a volunteer admin who may take days or longer to get it.

While I’m sure there are people out there that are Lucid haters and have nothing better to do with their time than to post false information, I don’t see this as a problem that can’t be handled by the moderators. The downside of requiring verification is that those extra verification steps tend to be taken only by hard-core followers and rule out the casual owner and forum visitor.

I’d rather hear from as wide an audience as possible rather than become an echo chamber for the small subset of verified owners.

Thanks for posting this @Mick. The lesson here is to pull over immediately if anyone else ever gets this. Hopefully, at highway speeds, there would be enough momentum to coast to the shoulder. Also, get out of the car and get to a safe area, especially if you are in stuck in lane and there is danger of a collision (even on the shoulder there is a chance of a collision). Turn on hazards if possible. Never stay in or near the car unless it’s safe to do so.

This is a rare occurrence but Lucid isn’t the first and won’t be the last car brand to have this type of failure. There is a 24/7 roadside assistance phone number that can be found in the Lucid app. Click profile (person icon at the bottom right)-> help (button at the top of the screen) -> scroll to the bottom of the page. The number that comes up for me: 888-995-8243. I’m adding this to my contacts right now.

I have heard privacy arguments, and I guess it can take a few days for the mods to verify an owner, but I don't agree that the documentation requirements are daunting. There's not much asked beyond your VIN number, and it's right on your app. My plea for limiting the CREATION of threads to verified owners is not only to stop false posters, although I do hate it when I see a damning thread title appear a few days before quarter-end, and then see it sit at the top of the heap because of all the replies. Some I'm sure are legitimate, and some are not, but seeing a negative post from a verified owners gives (at least me) the credibility to read on, and try to help if I can.

Another big argument is that many interested buyers and new owners will post questions that they could easily search for the answers to, but instead they create a post asking the same questions time and again. In the past, I have spent a lot of effort replying to help, but as the number of owners and interested parties have proliferated, it became too daunting. Have you noticed how quickly a very helpful new post gets buried in the clutter? That didn't used to be the case. As the forum population grows, I just think that limiting post CREATION to veried owners will keep it more useful and manageable.

I started posting before I got my Gravity, so no verification was possible. There is also a review and waiting period for posts by new members to the forum (I’m a relatively new member). My initial half dozen posts or so had to have a waiting period (for moderator approval?) to verify that I’m not some crazy person or bot.

Verification is a large entry barrier that discourages growing the community. I know I would have never joined this forum if I had to go through verification before my first post. We already see “Verified” or not in the poster icon (as well as New Member, Active, Admin, Lucid Official, etc.) so we can decide for ourselves how seriously to take a post.

Your points are not lost on me, and the mods certainly seem to be aligned with your views rather than mine. As this is my only foray into social media, if that term even applies, I may also be way off the norm for forums such as this.

Back when you were contemplating the purchase of your Gravity, the last thing I would have wanted to do was dissuade you from asking any questions you had. I just thought, perhaps incorrectly, that you could have found a thread already covering your particular question, read that, and then asked any remaining questions you had there as a reply rather than a new thread. I can see where, using my verified owner thread creation limiation, that could have been difficult in the very early days of Gravity.

I perused and posted before I bought my Lucid. Being from Arkansas, there are no “dealerships” to visit and weren’t many Lucids in the area, so the forum was a great place to gather information. I’d’ve hated if it were closed to non-owners. BUT!!! there is value in knowing who are actual owners versus folks who, though they may be fans of Lucid, express opinions/advice that are unsupported by actual experience in the cars.

The people (bots?) who I WOULD like to have identified are EV haters, or rabid fans/stockholders of competitor vehicles who are on the forum to bash Lucid and/or EVs in general. It’s a fact that there are posters on forums across the internet who’s sole purpose is to sow Fear/Uncertainty/Doubt (FUD) about EVs or individual brands, for their own financial benefit. These are posters that I would like to have designated or banned on the forum, so that people like me, who came for valuable information can be spared anecdotes that are intended to deceive.

In my opinion, naysayers should be tolerated to a degree. I have a lot of things I would like to see improved with my car, and I’d like to post about them here in hopes that Lucid designers might run across my input and take them into consideration. Not all of us have the influence that “Engineering Explained” does. I’d hate to be kicked off the forum for negative feedback, but would understand if I were tagged under my avatar if my complaining were excessive. I can see myself as a bit of a stickler, and wouldn’t mind if users were to gently inform me if I ever get so redundant that I spoil the fun of reading the forum. This should be a fun place to visit, so dissuading constant complainers or FUDsters from ruining the forum should be attempted.
