A few features I'd like to see:
Easy fixes:
- disable auto lock/unlock when at home. Allow the vehicle to remain unlocked when at a trusted location (aka your garage).
- allow for the back screen to be active when the hvac is active in the back and/or by tapping the screen. I have the lock rear display feature off. When my kids are in the backseat (9 and 6 yrs old) they don't seem to weight enough to activate the screen. When I go back there it turns on for me. So maybe there is a seat sensor problem. But either way, this screen needs to be easy to wake up manually
- I tried out Tidal but noticed when clicking on a playlist it would start playing the first song immediately as opposed to showing a list view of the songs. In Spotify I will frequently be in a playlist listening and then want to check out a different playlist without stopping the song I'm listening to. The Spotify app is definitely better. I canceled Tidal after this experience.
- allow for live camera/halo view in all situations except when the vehicle is moving. The reliability of the live view in the app is currently a disaster.
- bring back geofencing for Homelink. For whatever reason I have a very difficult time getting the Homelink button to active and send the signal. No other button on the upper screen seems to have this issue. I am usually tapping this button 2-3 times before it works.
- add a button at the bottom for vibes. Better yet, allow for a combination of colors, like red and green around Christmas. I am curious what other colors are possible. Would be better to just have a bunch of color dots to choose from and then the brightness. I still don't know what the 'animated' button even means since it doesn't appear to change anything
- Add a button for 1-touch dash cam recording.
- Allow for custom suspension and acceleration modes. So, sprint mode's acceleration with a soft suspension setting. Or medium acceleration but most firm suspension.
- Allow for a quieter notification mode, so parking sounds reduced for example
- Allow for quieter frunk/trunk sounds
- Allow for toggle on/off of music sources. if you have Spotify you keep that toggled on, if you don't have Tidal you toggle that off. the music source doesn't need to be a drop down list, it should just be tiles for bluetooth, streaming options, podcasts, etc.
- Improve the connection/stability between the app and the vehicle. So often I leave the car to run into a store and immediately after exiting and locking it says the vehicle is offline. The other day I was leaving work at 7am after a rough night shift and it was 18F outside... app couldn't connect said vehicle was offline. This is not acceptable. I don't think that every happened to me with my Model Y or Model X over the last 5 years. This is not a cell signal issue and happens in different locations. One of the best parts of an EV is the app and the remote control of HVAC and other app features. When there is no connection it also hides the current state of charge, also a big problem.
- Make it easier to delete guest accounts. I want to assign both keys and both fobs to my account and not have to keep track of which is which. Occasionally I'll get in and it has me logged in as a guest. Then I'll change to my profile and it asks for a PIN.
- Add more equalizer/audio settings and customizations. The upgraded system is an expensive upgrade and the custom settings are too basic.
- Maybe I'm the only one but it's hard to tell when a button is turned on or off (in the HVAC settings). If it's hard for me to tell then passengers will be confused as well.
Harder fixes:
- The night visibility on the side and rear cameras is inexcusably bad. it is so hard to see what is behind you at night. I find it very hard to believe Lucid chose to use cameras that don't have very good low-light functionality... so hopefully this is improvable by software
- Rear seat video entertainment options, was told this would be included by sales
- Add front/rear seat simple games such as Wordl, Spelling Bee, Sudoku, Connect 4, Mastermind/Code Breaker, etc.
- Apple car play, same
- Add phone key. not a big fan of carrying a fob around and this should increase reliability. Can do what Tesla did and us UWB to allow for hands free trunk and frunk opening too.
- Add a web browser that works while driving just like Tesla, super helpful on longer drives to have a passenger look things up, or search when stopped/charging, etc
- Allow for viewing/deleting saved dash cam clips on the mobile app
I do love driving the vehicle and think it looks fantastic in person. It is so much more comfortable than my previous Teslas. They need to let the suspension and drive mode adaptability shine, add car key/carplay, add reliablity, and then some fun/entertainment/dog mode features. The hardware is fantastic. The software can be so much better. The hardware running the software does seem to be quite good as well.
